I give him credit for sec tournament success but how many of those wins came against teams who cared more about setting themselves up for the actual postseason than winning a trophy? Sure Mississippi State tried to win the game yesterday but it meant nothing to them and you could tell. I personally think the format needs to be changed but that’s another story.

You somehow contradicted yourself in the very same sentence. Impressive.

That said, I sometimes wonder if he puts too much emphasis on the SEC tournament and if it ends up costing us in the regionals and on.

I agree with this.

Skip was never really concerned about going balls out to win the SEC tournament. He always played guys who weren’t necessarily everyday starters to get them some ABs and innings pitch so his studs could rest and recharge before regional play.

I’m not saying winning the SEC tourney isn’t a great accomplishment but the regional week that follows is what matters most

Is that why Skip is tied with Mainieri for the most SEC Tournament Championships with six??

It’s amazing Mainieri’s teams are 38-9 in Hoover but can’t beat Southern at Lee Hines Field.

Maneri

He's been our coach since 2007 and you don't know how to spell his name?

It was never Skips main goal. Very rarely would he let one of his top 3 starters pitch deep into SEC tournament games or ride the shite out of his everyday position starters during the the tournament. He always approached SEC tournament to get the guys on the bench more reps and everyday guys healthy and rested for the Regional unless they were not a lock to host. If they happened to win the SEC tournament, great, if not, not disappointed.

Skips Goals for Team every year:

1) Regular Season Conference Champs
2) World Series
