Every year I talk to people who visit the Outer Banks and say it's gorgeous and they wonder why it's not more developed and I tell them that every 3-4 year it gets wiped out by a hurricane, which is a damn shame because it really is a beautiful area.

Why do you consider it a shame that the OB are not developed? I'd rather there be at least a few unspoiled beaches. If trashy condos float your boat, there are plenty of places to find them.

Exactly I was out in Salvo and Waves on the OB over Labor Day weekend and it was great. No big condos...just nice beach houses. No traffic, no overcrowded beaches.

The surface trough is highlighted by a kink in the low level flow. As this flow runs up against the Yucatan the trough can get kind of folded over allowing surface vorticity to increase. We have seen that today with steadily increasing vorticity at 850mb.

Sounds dangerous. I really wish I had a clue what it meant.

This is going to be the most unfollowed mandatory evac ever for Charleston.

Yeah, can't see leaving Charleston. I understand the reason for the call, but I would have probably gone Georgetown County line and north.

Meanwhile, people are leaving HHI/Bluffton in masses.. rumor mill says mandatory will be changing to voluntary later today for Beaufort county but by then there will be a lot of people gone and adding unnecessary congestion to the roads

Just looked at the weather channel and it is showing it making landfall a little further north than Wilmington possible turning towards the southwest once it gets on land.
