re: So the OKC Thunder plane hit something during flight and thankfully everybody is okay - Furbs311 on 10/28/17 at 5:42 am
GulfstreamTiger
Despite the lack of gore, I'm going with a big bird at altitude (like 10k, not 30k) that bounced off just right. I've only had bird strikes in a King Air, and the props pretty much cleaned them up on the way through  What are you flying these days?...

re: Do you think you could fly a plane with no formal training? A helicopter? - Furbs311 on 10/26/17 at 6:20 pm
Eh, I think pretty much anyone could get a Cessna 172 in the air. I think most would be surprised how much force is required to keep it straight and level though if they didn't figure out how to use trim. Landing would be..challenging ...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
529 Plan - Furbs311 on 10/26/17 at 6:04 pm
I have a 529 I started for my 2 year old when she was born that I put about $150 a month in for now. We had baby number two this year - should I add her as a beneficiary to the existing 529 (I think I heard you can do that) or start a separate one? ...

Not all cockpits look like that anymore  I have a commercial pilots license, and have taken a few helicopter lessons. I tried hovering..and failed. Helicopters are a whole different animal. ...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
re: New home owners - Furbs311 on 10/25/17 at 9:26 pm
My advice is to keep an open mind. Don't write off a property just because it doesn't meet all your wants or needs a little work (especially something as easy as paint/flooring, etc). My wife and I went to an open house last summer and both walked out not liking the house at all. When the price drop...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
re: Best Travel Destination You've Experienced - Furbs311 on 9/30/17 at 10:22 pm
Not necessarily favorite, but Muscat, Oman was interesting. Went for work so only had a few days of sight seeing, but a unique and surprisingly pretty place in spots. ...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)
re: Overnight Business Class Flights - Furbs311 on 9/30/17 at 10:19 pm
I usually just bring a t-shirt to change into on the plane. Depending on where you're leaving from, London is a relatively short flight and by the time you get done with the meal service, you only have 4ish hours of uninterrupted rest. Now going to Asia or the ME is a whole different story and I wou...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1)
re: Global Entry is well worth the time and money! - Furbs311 on 9/24/17 at 9:28 pm
I got Global Entry because I wanted pre check and work paid for it. But coming through JFK and Atlanta I think mobile passport is just as fast if not faster at times depending on how many GE kiosks are open/working ...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0)

re: Hurricane Irma - Spinning Down - Furbs311 on 9/7/17 at 10:50 pm
I'm in Bluffton (HHI) and starting to question the evacuate decision really for the first time. But with 2 little ones were probably just going to go.. will never regret that decision ...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (3)
re: Hurricane Irma - Spinning Down - Furbs311 on 9/6/17 at 6:23 am
I live in Bluffton as well. Matthew was our first big storm since moving here and flooding wasn't too bad outside of places right next to water and typical flash flooding like you see on 278 after heavy rain. HHI flooded worse than we did. What surprised me was the amount of trees that fell for a ca...Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (2)
