We’re full too, sorry
In all seriousness, Beaufort is a great little coastal town.. we love it. Lived in Bluffton, SC outside of Hilton Head for the last 12 years and just moved to Beaufort about 2 months ago.

Yes and I have witnessed a crash like that as well. In early 1990's (possibly 1989) They had the hot air balloon festival in BR at the fair grounds.
One of my earliest memories as a kid, being at a driving range with my dad and seeing a “funny looking” skinny balloon falling quickly.
I work at a pretty large company. Last year, a guy I didn’t know sent an email to a large portion of the company that only said:
“The LORD has redeemed his servant Jacob!”
They did not thirst when he led them through the deserts;
he made water flow for them from the rock;
he split the rock and the water gushed out.”
This is from Isaiah 48, but he sent it with zero context, and it wasn’t followed up by any explanation. I’m a Christian and all about the Word, but I quickly looked him up in the directory to make sure we didn’t work in the same building just in case…

You have a point. Now that I think about it, we inbounded at half court. That makes it worse - thanks!

JV basketball playing at our in town rival. 2nd half tip off comes straight to me, I run straight to the opposing teams basket for a wide open layup.. and missed. Which somehow made it worse
Coach made me physically point to our basket at the start of each half the rest of the year.

If it’s been under 60 this winter, we’ve had a wood fire burning… love the smell and ambiance, very relaxing for some reason.
Make sure the flue is open and clear. You can also light a piece of news paper to make sure you’re getting good airflow and the smoke will go up the chimney, not into the room
ETA: this was our first year in this house, so we did have the chimney cleaned before first use.

We used to have a plane that the door would pop open on but that’s a far more traumatic circumstance in the video.
Use to fly a bonanza that had a door that would pop open occasionally right after take off. It would open about 3 inches - couldn’t close it, just had to circle back around and land.

Stayed at the Grand Hyatt for a few days and was pleasantly surprised by the city overall. Beer was expensive but work was buying!

I’ve met Martine a few times. Still married to the same woman she had children with when he/she was Martin. Created “Bina 48” with the goal of downloading her wife’s consciousness so she can live forever. Also started multiple businesses and created some incredible tech, not the least of which was SiriusXM. Now she’s trying to grow human organs in pigs for transplant.
All I can say is she was generous to the people around her that called her “sir” because.. well.. she looks like a man. She’s incredibly brilliant.. and incredibly lost at the same time.

Q: is there any particular reason not to (or you why you specifically didn't) knock out the sheetrock to recess it some into the wall?
You might be able to tell in the first picture - the room already had a little bump out wall to separate our bedroom door so it was already a “setback” space if you will. Also, with stud locations and everything in the wall, I’m not sure how we would have handled placement anyway.. plus you’d only be able to go back the width of the wall. I actually put 1x4”s behind everything attached to studs so I would have something to screw to/shim as needed

Do you mind sharing what shelving unit you used from IKEA?
The bookcase is the BILLY and the cabinets are HAVSTA
The only modification we made was putting 1/8” plywood in the back of the bookcase instead of the cheap cardboard backing that comes with it. Had to run the sides through a table saw to take add a blades-width to the pre-existing channels but it was worth it.
I also saw some examples of people putting the bookshelves upside down to make it not look so thick between the bookshelves and counter, but we wanted the thicker look
quote:
How far apart are the shelves, 11-12 inches? Why didn’t you add horizontal face frames to the front of each shelf, maybe a tad wider than shelf thickness?
Yeah, they are about 11 inches apart. They aren’t all the exact same as we just used the preset bookshelf holes so they are still removable. In retrospect I would have permanently installed the shelves exactly where I wanted them by screwing through the sides of the bookshelves, but it worked out ok.
We went back and forth on framing the front of the shelves. I’d like it to be a little thicker but we were worried about it causing an awkward lip on the shelves that would catch when you put books in or out, or look weird when a book is sitting lower than the face of the shelf if that makes sense. We figured we could always go back and add it if we wanted.

Moved into a new house a few months ago and wife really wanted built in book shelves in the formal living room. She found the idea on Instagram to use IKEA bookshelves and base cabinets.
Sourced a few reference pictures and this was the end result. Not sure it was any easier than just building them, but it was definitely cheaper
Learned a lot in the process and they aren’t perfect, but happy with the overall result.
Shout out to my dad littlebaldman for his help several weekends as well

Spent a good bit of time in the 17 grandstand yesterday as well. Neal Shipley came as close to a hole in one as I’ve seen.. and then it ran off the back like several others.. brutal
I grew up in Southern Pines and my dad made this post in another thread. He’d be happy to answer any questions. We’ll be there Saturday and Sunday

I was at a church youth retreat. Two of the leaders came up that evening and sang “knocking on heavens door” in Sr’s honor.
Grew up near Rockingham and going to the races pretty often. Rockingham was the next week and they were letting fans sign his merch trailer. Wonder what they ever did with that..

Glue or Float LVP floors
Posted by Furbs311 on 3/14/24 at 8:48 pm
We are having this COREtech flooring installed in our new home next week and getting various input on whether to have them glued down or not.
Installer recommended just floating per the COREtech install guide, but even the guide says you can glue them but “may void warranties depending on installation”.
Won’t cost much more to have them glued so that’s not the concern, just want to do what’s best for the long run.
Appreciate any advice for those of you that have been there before!

Yeah, but I think they just ran out of gas. It's the most logical explanation.
The crew would have known they were low and declared an emergency much earlier and gotten priority to Naples or another airport. Haven’t heard any reports they signaled distress until just before the crash and the flight track certainly doesn’t seem to indicate anything out of the ordinary.
Crew error doesn’t seem likely either - hard to mistakenly shut off both engines instead of lowering the gear or flaps.
My guess is a fuel system/contamination issue, but speculating at this point doesn’t do much good. NTSB should have plenty of data to review.

And not enough time to attempt a re-light. Will be interesting to see what caused this. The GE CF 34 engine family has millions of hours

Looks like it was potentially a charter flight from a Ft Lauderdale based company.
LINK to Charter Site Aircraft Listing
Dual engine failure is nearly unheard of.. and definitely a terrible situation to try to recover from at low altitude with little time to react.

I work in the industry and have spent a lot of time in many different jets. Flew on a G700 round trip across the country. Amazing airplane - still finishing FAA certification and projected to deliver this year.
What’s the overtime rules these days?
I use to go to lots of Hurricanes games growing up before there were shootouts and saw a lot of tie games. Went to a minor league game a few months ago - after regulation they went to a 7:00 3-3 sudden death period, then a shootout. It was a lot of fun to watch

I grew up in Southern Pines. Local conspiracy theory is it’s related to a drag show that was widely protested last night. That’ll make for some interesting local drama if it turns out to be true.

It’s actually very walkable and a great place to watch golf. But it’s in the middle of nooooowhere. The town I live in is the closest “real town” with hotels, restaurants etc, and we are every bit of 45-50 min away. Savannah is over an hour. Just tough to get people out there, even with a strong field.
Rumor around here is the owner really going after a Ryder cup or some other big time tournament long term. The logistics of that would be challenging.
