Chinese put tariffs on LNG

We will see how this trade war plays out as it hits the US oil field.
LNG exports are booming and are set to really boom cutting drastically this trade deficit folks here on TD think is all important. This is a huge wet blanket on that. It is basically giving other natural gas producers the margin in China to invest in LNG technology to compete with us.
Guess that will have to wait.
Maybe they sell delux truck nuts in Russia and some of you oil field BAWS can get some there over the next few years as the Chinese cut deals with them to get them in the LNG business.

n=1.
The trade deficit is a clear indicator that the value of goods China sends us far exceeds the value of goods we send them.

LNG is sold on contracts a year in advance at least, they may promise tariffs on future purchases a year down the road, I doubt they will put tariffs on gas already purchased.
See above, we dont have any extra LNG to sell them, the talks were about future plants we are now building. It will be a few years before we could export an additional 500 billion.
The LNG market is growing worldwide so China is by no means the only potential customer so no worries.
And yes the Chinese market dropped another 1.3% overnight. Since this has started their market has dropped the equivalent of the dow dropping 6,000 points. The renminbi will continue to slip and they will be forced to intervene at some point, last time it cost them over a trillion and it was just a bandaid. And the stronger the dollar gets the more its gonna squeeze them. They got addicted to that quantitative easing and zero interest rates of the previous adm like crack cocaine laced with their own fentanyl.
Capital investment in the US is up SIGNIFICANTLY, its at a 13 year load in chini, always follow the money fellas, it will lead you to the winners.
I truly dont understand some people like you IB, you would rather see the US economy tank, than Trump to succeed, its like Huckabee Sanders said, some of you hate Trump more than you care about your own country. A shame, a real shame.

Wet blanket? LOL. Get your facts straight. This is largely a symbolic move by the Chinese. For the 11st 7 months of this year only 6.9% of China LNG imports are from the US. China imports of LNG are on par with South Korea. Japan imports almost 3 times as much LNG as China. US better off selling all our LNG to Europe anyway. This is not going to hurt the US oil patch.

These tariffs are going to frick up our gas line deal with China.

They're cutting their nose off to spite their face.
Xi is losing this negotiation badly and he's too stubborn to realize it.

Member the EU Tariff war?
Member when they agreed to buy American soybeans, LNG, and to coordinate with us against cheaters like China?

It's working out pretty well with the EU. China is a bit more stubborn but they are also extremely dependent on US trade to keep their economy moving (far moreso than the reverse). They're also used to playing a far longer game than the US, it wouldn't shock me to see them waiting until the mid-terms to see if (from their view) enough Congressional seats switch parties to reign in Trump's hardline trade stance.

If the natural gas cannot find a market producers will just flare is off like they have always done.

I'll bite, how do you get fair trade to happen with out tarrifs? Do you think we should continue to get screwed with these trade deals indefinitely? What is the alternative solution since asking nicely didn't work.

So Chinese tariffs will be helpful to China, gotcha.

Who knew China had a burgeoning LNG industry?
If they don't, this is possibly the dumbest thing a country could do.

This should decrease natural gas prices for U.S. consumers.
Good news.

You know, being wrong about a situation, isn't the end of the world. And actually, fessing up to when you are incorrect, is noble.
However, doubling down on stupid day after day, because you are so angry over being proved wrong minutes after your posts, is just insanity.

This move makes no sense because China can't produce it domestically. They'll just pay more for it now. It will hurt them more than us especially since the EU will start importing LNG from us
