Here is Thomas on why he liked Georgia's energy so much at their game. Stolen from the recruiting page, but I think it pertains to a larger problem at LSU....

quote:
“That’s a hard question,” Thomas said. “I’d probably have to say I like how Georgia is just ‘turnt’ up. They really are electrified from the beginning all the way to the end. From ‘The Dawgwalk’ all the way to the end of the game. With LSU, I’m not saying they are boring. But there are times. I think everybody in the nation knows with LSU fans that if (The Tigers) are not doing good, then (the crowd) is going to let you know and (they) are going to boo you.”

He saw Georgia start off slow on Saturday in Sanford Stadium. Kentucky hung around

“Their fans still stayed in the game,” Thomas said. “They didn’t get out of their mindset to support their team thinking they were going to lose. I think LSU fans are kind of wishy-washy with that.”

Our fans having a "wishy-washy" reputation doesn't sell well with recruits... our fanbase seems to have a problem. We don't stay fully hooked with our boys if they seem to be faltering even a little bit below our expectations. Any thoughts from anyone else?

He's right about our crowd.

But if he goes to Georgia, he'll see just how good our crowd can be on October 13th, 2018.

That was just one man's opinion, who only had one snapshot to go on. I remember Mark Richt being amazed that LSU fans starting chanting "LSU LSU LSU" in 2003 right about Georgia turned that screen pass into a TD and took the lead on us.

LSU, rightly or wrongly, definitely has a more pro style fan base than some other schools. That said, the idea that LSU fans are any more or less "wishy washy" than any other fanbase is absurd.

Sounds like he's worried he won't play well.

That was like 14 years ago dude. Our fan base has changed dramatically. If you can’t see that then I feel sorry for you

I feel like maybe the culture at LSU games has changed a little bit since our championship year a decade and half ago though... I've only been to one game (Arkansas vs LSU 2015), but I just don't think the crowd has the same passion they used to.

I think a good bit of our fanbase is spoiled and unreasonable. But UGA is in 1st place in the east and fighting to get into the CFP or, at worst, a NY6 game. LSU is playing for pride at this point. So comparing the atmospheres isn't accurate.

there's been a lull for sure.

I liken it to Atlanta Braves fans around the mid 2000's, they had come off such an amazing extended run where they had been super competitive for a very long time and things just kind of got stale. Couldn't sell out even playoff games. LSU fans have been used to being in the NC hunt regularly and we havent been for awhile so people have gotten somewhat apathetic for the moment, at least compared to how it used to be. I don't think it's a permanent thing but the product is stale at the moment and the Troy game has kind of spoiled the season. Combine that with how good the home experience is now (which everyone is dealing with) and you've got yourself a recipe for a lot of ho hum crowds.

Its easy to be excited when your team is still in the hunt for a playoff spot. I wonder what their crown is like when they have 3-4 losses and playing for a Liberty Bowl berth.

Not shocking if you read most of the posts here. From one quarter to the next, fans will want to fire everyone, then say they’re the best ever. Same with the players.

UGA fans aren't more turn't and we don't boo more than other teams. It also shows a lack of perspective on his part that he can't distinguish between a team having a generational season vs. a team having an up-and-down season.

However, the stadium's not at capacity for a single game the entire year, and the people that do show up find any and all excuses to leave at their earliest convenience. It's garbage.
