Everyone in that lame arse UKR war thread needs to give it a listen. Will be educational at minimal in the parts of history that they obviously have no clue of.

The people that keep up with the war have heard everything Putin said before. There were no new insights.

Tucker giving Putin 2 hours to explain his side to the American people was a good thing. It did seem like more of a press conference/lecture than an interview tho.

But you take what you can get.

There's no logical reason people shouldnt be allowed to hear putin speak.

Edit: besides the nefarious reasons of course

Yea people who didn't get the first part of the interview clearly don't understand how Europeans (and Middle Easterners for that matter) think about history

The American mindset on history is much shorter (and dumber I might add).

Sounds like a lot of politicians. US history is littered with presidents and senators getting caught doing something stupid and lobbing cruise missiles at the middle east.

To be fair - Putin’s first question was “is this a serious talk or an interview”

And Tucker said “a serious talk” so Putin started

And then when Tucker asked Putin how the history was relevant, Putin responded “I thought you wanted a serious talk and not an imterview”

And Tucker responded “I did”

To which Putin responded (paraphrasing) “well this is how we do this here, you must understand the history and then the present will make more sense”

Yea we've always been some imperialist fricks too. Doesn't mean I'm going to believe a word this scum says.

Both sides can be bad but Putin has been doing the shadiest shite for decades with only the bare minimum of hiding it. Then he just says "nuh uh" and everyone moves on because he controls every part of the state apparatus/propaganda machine.

And now Tucker is playing the role of useful propagandist and yall eat it up because it plays into some narrative that's useful for your team sports way of understanding politics.

Putin spitting half-truths. It looked like manipulation to me. But what was Tucker supposed to do? Cut him off?

There’s some middle ground between a “talk show” as Putin said it, and a lecture, or long history lesson. An interview does need to allow for questions to be asked and answers to be given in a timely fashion. Fine if he was to support his answers with historical points, but that was strangely aggressive.

I think Putin came with a prepared agenda. Fair enough. Take the “interview” for what it’s worth, but don’t assume that every historical “lesson” that Putin provided is a balanced and inerrantly true.

Anyone that took what Putin said as the truth about the Ukraine war is definitely the type of person that would root for the blue party or the red party as the good guys and the other team as the bad guys. Actual truth doesn't have a good side and a bad side. I do believe a certain percentage of humans are genetically predisposed to just following a charasmatic leader, rather than questioning where that leader is taking them or his motivations.

For some people it is as simple as "well this guy said that, and I agree with that, so now he is saying we need to do this, so I agree with that also." they start out agreeing that climate can be affected by humans and end up going vegan. Or they start out agreeing that the election was shady and end up running around the capitol building on Jan 6th.

The quicker you can jump off before it gets to that end point, the more reasonable someone is imo.

And? Superbowl views don't require that either.

Putin doesn’t know the American person’s attention span by starting with a 30 minute history lesson.

I got in bed and started watching. Fell asleep probably a little over an hour into it

The highlights?

1. The USA is the one pushing war in Ukraine for financial gain and most of what we see is “theater”
2. The USA overthrew the Ukrainian government in 2014 to install western sympathizers with the possibility of expanding NATO and weakening Russia.
3. Western Ukraine is full of “literal” Nazis and the USA is supporting them
4. Russia is trying to reclaim parts of Ukraine that are historically Russian in order to inhibit the eastern spread of NATO on its doorstep
5. The USA/CIA blew up the Nordstream Pipeline.
6. The US President is a figurehead who doesn't run anything. The US is run by elites.
7. Tucker Carlson tried to get in the CIA and the CIA didn't want him

do you realize Putin is an ex KGB agent? They are pretty good at propaganda themselves

So you believe what an ex-KGB agent (for 16 years was in the thought police) has to say on these topics over the USA?

110m people did not watch a 2 hour interview, impressions just means how many people came across the tweet and probably a huge chunk of that are straight bots

Bots and the Poliboard using it as jerk material will definitely pump up those impressions
