Is there a bigger rip off than veterinarians?

Boarded our dogs 3 weeks ago while we were on vacation. Had every vaccine under the sun, bath, nail trimmings etc. 4 day stay came out to $450.
Dropped them off for a single night this week and instead of the $34 nightly kennel they share, they came up with 2 more tests each and another vaccine one needed. $34 stay turned into $160
I’ve paid double in dog care this year than what I pay for myself for healthcare, dentist visits etc. Seems like they just make up shite to tack on your bill.
May drop them off for a night next week, just to see how creative they can be to run my bill over $100

That’s why I don’t have pets. WAY more trouble than they’re worth.

The "physical exam" where they touch the dog for 11 seconds and charge you $50

I’d leave work and run with my dog to bring him to the vet in a heartbeat.
I’d swiftly and casually clock outta work and jog with my wife to bring her to the doctors office. (Of course with non-life threatening issues) lol

You got off cheap. My damn vet drives the same kind of Audi as my dentist.

Medical doctors are the same way. You just don’t see the ridiculous charges because your insurance gets the hit.

Yes, Doctors and insurance companies. My vet has the same drugs and tools. Why can't he fix me up for something simple at 20 times less cost?

My wife and I joke that it's $400 every time we open the door at the vet. It's awful.

There is one in my area that when he/she fixes the animals, the spleen seems to rupture and requires $1200 emergency surgery.

Just go to AVS for cheaper service

Fun fact: Many of the vet practices are no longer owned by the docs. The practices have been sold to private equity owned companies, and the docs are under increasing pressure to deliver financial results.

You really want Dr. Caldera cutting on you?

I dropped $300 yesterday and $150 today at a chiropractor. Was told while looking at an X-ray that my L5 was bulging and pushing down on the sacral. I’m $450 light in the wallet and after two visits can barely walk. I’m worse off than before I went to this doctor. So I’m throwing this particular chiropractor into the hat for ripping me off as bad as my vet gigs me.

My daughter just graduated vet school this past spring and she had four offers on the table before graduating. COVID and everybody getting a pet to keep them company during quarantine has led to a situation where the demand for pet care has outstripped the supply. These clinics are paying top dollar for a a licensed vet. This cost is passed directly on to you. And yes, those corporate-owned clinics are under pressure for upsells. Find a clinic not owned by a corporation and those add-ons will disappear. My daughter turned down a higher offer because she didn’t want the pressure of upsells at a corporate clinic.

Well it is a chiropractor.
Should’ve gone to a physical therapist.

You couldn’t be more wrong. But believe what you want
