Well there’s a reason you don’t see chiropractors in hospitals and there’s no Harvard or Yale School of Chiropractic

Look I get it, but I’m going to tell you the same thing I told someone else. Desperate times require desperate measures. I’m in some serious pain. Can barely walk. My general practitioner doctor, a highly respected doctor in this area, suggested I give it a try if his medication didn’t work. Said maybe it could possibly offer some relief. I think chiropractors can offer some relief on certain things, but this is beyond the scope of what this guy can fix.

Considered flying to Mexico? Combine vacation with dental work and save some money.

Yeah ... a lot of Vets and veterinarian services have become a massive grift.

Even Tractor Supply now does it with their required "every six months blood work" policy in order to renew scripts.

Vets actually operate on a much higher profit margin that GPs.

Sure. That’s a reasonable suggestion, actually.

If modern medicine and accepted therapies can’t fix what ails you, try whatever so long as it doesn’t hurt you.

Just avoid those neck “adjustments”.

Boarded our dogs 3 weeks ago while we were on vacation. Had every vaccine under the sun, bath, nail trimmings etc. 4 day stay came out to $450.

Lol I pay that for 1 dog in NJ not at a vet

I heard that my previous vet had sold his practice to some kind of corporate entity - and they ended up firing him from the practice his dad had established years early. Too bad too, because I thought he was an excellent vet.

Fun fact: Many of the vet practices are no longer owned by the docs. The practices have been sold to private equity owned companies, and the docs are under increasing pressure to deliver financial results.

You mean the ones that haven’t attended a continuing education class in 20 years? Still treat everything with a steroid and penicillin shot. Good luck long term.

And yet MDs still make 4 times what vets make. Hmm…

Everyone in Baton Rouge sold out. When I called around the first question I asked is: “are you locally owned?” It’s just about keeping the money local, the sellout practices become worse and charge twice as much. While applying more pressure and running up the bill.

At one time I could run to the local "Seed & Feed" store and pick up every vaccine needed to inoculate my pets. Well, not any more for quite a while now.

The vets got together and stopped the sale of the rabies vaccine and made it so you had to go to either a vet or an SPCA to have that done.

Last time I checked, I could still buy the Parvo, Feline Leukemia and multiple shot to give animals on my own. Not sure how long that will last, if it hasn't be halted already.

Valid reply if that's how you feel. The wife and I still have a housecat and he's not expensive to deal with----for now, but if like the last cat my wife adopted, it can get $$$ quick when they age.

Damn cat had diabetes late in life and needed daily insulin shots and a special diet. Buying the meds and food from the vet was out of the question since it was 2-3 times the price I was paying through Chewy.com for the same products.

With the trend today of people treating their pets like they are 4 legged kids only helps bolster the vets charging what they do since so many people will pay it.

One of my wife's friends had 2 dogs, both pretty much past their "use by" date who spent over $5K last year having medical procedures done to them. One died about 3 months later the other is going down fast.

Personally, I won't go into debt over medical procedures for a pet. Let the downvotes commence.

This is just a case of lack of information. Just read and brush up on pet health care, cost of labor, materials, etc… you can thank government for pet vaccine mandates. All that you paid checks out as legitimate. You can always go for less than best care. The market trend is people are taking better care of companion animals. There are no signs of this trend slowing in the near future. I have 2 dogs. Budget is 300-350 including 2x a year wellness panels, Chem, cbc, UA, fecal, and vector disease, and yearly dentals. Boarding should come out of travel budget category.

I mean $25 pet insurance covers all emergency medical costs. I've used it 3 times in the last few years and other than $100 deductible was fully reimbursed each time.
