I will just post this here, and im sure ill get downvoted to oblivion by baws who dont get why anyone would spend any amount of money on an animal- but fwiw i got pet insurance for my dog about 8 yrs ago and it has saved me a fortune over the years… for a while he needed surgery just about every year for tumor removals, each surgery cost about $900-$1200 and pet insurance wound up covering about 90% of that in each case.. also covered some other random things from time to time.. i will say thta his premiums rose quite a bit as he got older, so i switched carriers a couple years ago to a more reasonable cost.. still, ive done the math and ive come out way, way ahead over the years and id recommend pet insurance to anyone (and no i dont sell pet insurance or work in insurance at all lol.)

You can post that receipt all you want. That veterinarian did not sedate the dog and extract teeth. I can assure you there were no dental x-rays, no monitoring, no fluids, no sedation drugs used, no suture used, dental machine used, etc.

Extraction may be the wrong word, but she had three teeth pulled.

For those that might not have figured it out, you can get meds from WalMart pet RX for half, or less, than your vet charges.

Just expect the vet to be slow to respond when PetRX contacts them for the prescription if they are anything like mine.

Gets friends or family members that care. Why jam them up in a kennel?

What’s nuts is people getting actual pet insurance. Nobody had pet insurance before the world went off its rocker. This is such a foreign concept to me. That speaks to the racket that is veterinarians, but then again, it preys upon the people who forgo children and obsess over their pets instead, and the absurd amount of money people spend on pets these days.

If pet insurance was a good deal, they wouldn’t sell it.

Same thing with extended warranties.

For the hoards of dog/pet freak morons like yourself, probably, yes.

When real men ran shite, if an animal was defective it was culled.

Imagine trying to deal with a patient that can’t actually tell you what’s going on.

My day would go a lot smoother if my patients couldn't tell me what is going on.

I guess people want Vets to work for minimum wage. They have 8 years of education,I think vet school is pretty expensive.
Then there’s a lot of overhead-building,hvac,insurance,employees,exam tables,x-ray equipment,on and on.

If you don’t want to pay for a vet, don’t get a pet.

I’ve got 1 dog and I’ve spent plenty on her for just routine stuff but she is well worth it.

All you have to do is take your pets to a vet that does large animal, and control your wife. Large animal vets understand when it's not economically viable to keep a large animal around, versus putting them down. We can spend $4k to keep doggo alive for another two weeks, or... you shouldn't, and we'll be outta here in $200. Sucks, but it's reality.

I prefer AU, LSU and Aggy vets if possible in those circumstances. ETA: Ok, Mississippi State vets as an alternate

Fun fact: Many of the vet practices are no longer owned by the docs. The practices have been sold to private equity owned companies,

This is the one reason that when my Labradors passed I did not replace them. I like to travel and it’s just too expensive. Plus the emotional investment and inevitable fact that we almost always outlive them.

Well it is a chiropractor. Should’ve gone to a physical therapist.

Tried that. Couldn’t get in for weeks anywhere around here. There is a serious shortage in medical professionals in this area. Desperate times call for desperate measures. I’m in some serious pain and was willing to try something alternative.
