Every single school invited to the B1G is AAU.

Nebraska lost their AAU membership before they were invited.

And it absolutely does matter for the B1G. Jim Delaney said Nebraska wouldn't have been invited had they been kicked out a year prior.

Talk is cheap. A top 5 global school is sitting there in Stanford, so I’m struggling to believe they care too much about academics at the moment.

Maybe they used to, but nowadays the TV network gives you a dollar amount they’ll give you to go get a school and if it’s high enough, you go get them.

You do realize that both Oregon and Washington are AAU, right? Same thing with UCLA and USC?

SEC is eventually going to add some combo of Clemson, FSU, Miami, UVA right?

Honestly doubt it. ESPN basically told the conference to frick off when it came to adding money for an extra conference game after we added OU and UT

Clemson and FSU for sure. frick Miami. And I'd rather take VT over UVA.

This almost certainly a stupid question, but here goes.

Why did UC-Berkeley, the flagship of the UC system, not bitchslap UCLA and prevent their move that instigated this domino effect?

Two CFP commissioners tell @YahooSports that the 6+6 expansion format should be re-examined (not surprising).

Starting in 2024, 6 highest-ranked conference champs get at-large spots & next 6 highest-ranked teams get at-large spots.

quote:

The CFP does not have a binding TV agreement after the 2025 playoff, but there is a thought that commissioners should explore a format change - one suggested 5 AQs +7 ALs format - for 2024 and 2025 as well.

Obviously, it's early and there has been no serious discussion.

Yes, and?

Has the B1G ever passed on a big time school for not being AAU? No one was surprised when Nebraska lost AAU status. Nebraska had been trending down for years because the plains region has lost people and power over the past several decades, so Delaney is either an ignorant fool or a liar.

The B1G has tried to add Notre Dame for decades, and Notre Dame wasn’t AAU until a year or two ago. How do you explain that?

“We care so much about academics we’ve added Oregon before Stanford.” what a joke.

They’ve always taken the best pieces they could off the board. Because the B1G is located in states that were historically highly populated, the major universities in those states happen to be AAU members.

If you think the declining states in the Midwest are going to pass on a pipeline to the rapidly growing south, you’re kidding yourself.

Looks like the Broke PAC Mountain conference is moving forward according to Ross:

[u]Presidents & ADs from the remaining four Pac-12 schools have held multiple meetings today to discuss next steps.

Options are limited, but one of the most practical is a merger or partnership with the Mountain West, which the MWC is receptive to, sources tell

Nebraska lost AAU because of a change that meant their medical center could not be included as part of the University for qualification.

It wasn't just some they are getting worse thing.

They should feel the worst out of the remaining four that are all fricked. They could have stopped UCLA, and without UCLA, USC probably does not leave either.
