ACC presidents were scheduled to meet tonight to further discuss the league’s latest expansion plan, sources tell @YahooSports.

Recent Big 12 acquisitions likely ended any Westward expansion plans. The league seriously explored adding 5-7 Pac-12 schools.

And under what delusion do they think ESPN is going to pay them for adding more schools?

Exactly.

The Big 12 wisely had a clause for adding power 5 teams so everyone gets full revenue.

The ACC has no such clause. Every team the add just lowers everyone's cut. ESPN isn't going to just do them a solid.

So I’ve come to the conclusion that this isn’t good for college football.

Believe it or not, there are some diehard Cal football fans that have season tickets and tailgate for every game and buy merch and follow everything Cal football. And they’re probably in shambles right now and that sucks.

And it won’t stop. The next step is middle tier programs being pushed out. Purdue, Illinois, South Carolina, Mississippi State, they’re next. And the super league finally comes to fruition.

Idk, just an icky feeling.

merger or partnership with the Mountain West, which the MWC is receptive to

Aka the mwc has all the leverage now and will absorb what's left of the pac12 and take the apple streaming deal, which is much better than the 4mill each school gets now.

Allegedly, Kevin Warren promised USC that he wouldn't add OU and UDub.

Reminds me of SEC Shorts.

Clemson wanted to come in. USC said no. Aggy said yes and asked USC "how do you like it?"

Exactly. Greed is going to ruin something that has brought so people, memories etc together. Did not have to be this way.

Meh

There was a point in time not all that long ago that schools didnt have every game televised and you had to either listen to the radio or read about the results in the paper the next day

That has changed and conferences growing and adding more intriguing matchups is a big driver in that

This benefits the sport at the end of the day

It will ultimately only benefit a few. And then we’ll have large swaths of the country playing second tier football. Then what?

live sports rights is not looking like the automatic cash cow anymore, the consolidation of the super league will happen even faster.

When you say super league are you referring to some mega conference within the current setup? I think it’s more likely the 3 remaining mega conferences leave the NCAA altogether and start a new association where they can offer more scholarships, pay more coaches, possibly outright pay players, etc.

This is a lot of teams that will need new teams to schedule. Its double the list since each team now needs to find an OOC game to replace with. Will be a big scramble and next tier teams will reap a $$$ bonanza as they help fill schedules.

Non-conference games that are now conference games:

2024
Baylor at Utah
BYU at Utah
Arizona at KState

2025
Utah at BYU
CU at Houston
K-State at Arizona

2026
Arizona at BYU
BYU at Utah
Utah at Houston
Houston at CU

2027
BYU at Arizona
Utah at BYU
Houston at Utah
K-State at CU

I’m saying the top 32(picking this number to equate it to the NFL) break away and form their own league. Probably outside of the ncaa, but maybe not.
