Lake Pontchartrain, bunch of guys out night fishing. Couldn't swim but had life jackets on the boat but they weren't wearing them.
Boat outboard engine backfired and blew the cowling off. Guys panicked and jumped in the water. Boat didn't catch fire. Most of them drowned.

I was driving a crewboat to bring deckhands out to a tug, one of them had a straw hat, worth maybe $3, blow off, he dived in the river to retrieve. He never surfaced even once.

Next door neighbor was having an affair and broke it off with the guy. He disappeared, and the search for him was on the news, and his car was found a couple blocks away off of Essen Lane... Fast forward 4 very hot summer months later and the AC guy goes up in her attic to work on the unit and finds his mummified from the heat remains with a gun... He had snuck up there to wait for her to come home from work, and had the gun to kill her, but was doing drugs while waiting, and passed out, and was overcome by the heat as the day went on... His old girlfriend who had been sleeping below his dead body for months, and had noticed an odor but thought it was a rat in the wall or something, left her shite in the house and never came back. Cops said that they had to pry him off the rafters with a shovel.
