High school teacher was selling a pistol and a man came to his house with the intention of buying. Teacher's son who was a friend of mine picked up the pistol. Potential buyer told him he should not play with a gun and the teacher said it wasn't loaded. Son pointed at his dad, pulled the trigger and killed him . His mom moved away after the funeral and I have always wondered how my friend turned out.

Girl I dated in HS was from a town 30 minutes over and I got to know a few of her friends. One was a guy who was a good athlete, good looking, and wealthy, but acted like a wounded puppy. Just a depressing person.

I asked about it and he and his identical twin brother were playing with toy guns and arguing about who shot who and then he went and got a real pistol from his dad’s closet and shot his brother. So young he had no idea what he had done till he was a bit older.

I probably moved from dumb to tragic on that one.

Worked at a big downtown department store in the 70’s. The call button on the freight elevator had been out of order for a long time so the stock staff had knocked out a window in the door so they could holler for the elevator. A janitor stuck his head in the window to see where the elevator was and was decapitated. I saw the body and the blood. They sent the rest of the janitorial staff to the bottom of the shaft to retrieve his head.

They didn’t do safe spaces and emotional support therapy back in the 70’s obviously.

It was on Drake and Zeke’s Dumbass of the Day but even they talked about how sad it was.

A newly married couple somewhere up North. They’re at one of their family’s for the holidays and they decide they want to have sex but don’t want to be too loud in the parents’ house. Go get in their car in the garage. Again it’s up North in the winter so really cold and they crank the car to cut some heat on but the garage door was up. The poor parents found them the next morning nude and dead from carbon monoxide poisoning. It may have been Xmas morning. Awful.

Used to do construction and was on this mall expansion project in Georgia. Someone broke into the substation electrical room immediately next to our office trailer to steal copper. Coming up to that scene an hour or two after it must have happened was a horrific thing to see.

A rather crispy copper thief I’m guessing.

Saw a guy head out to the beach in Gulf Shores as a tropical storm was approaching; I was just observing the storm as it rolled in. He was trying to grab his beach pole that was slowly getting blown around by the wind. As soon as he touched it, lightning struck him. Called 911 and he was dead as a doornail when they got there.

Wasn’t a boy found in a chimney of a bank in Louisiana where he tried to slide down and get inside it after hours? And they found his bones in there almost 3 decades later?

Something similar in Slidell in the late 90's. Drifter came off the interstate and tried to get into abandoned restaurant at the Old Spanish Trail exit. Tried to enter through the kitchen ventilation and got stuck. Found him years later. What a slow awful way to die. I get chills just typing this. It was in the paper back then.

Had to look up the cause of death for David Carradine:
Erotic asphyxiation is the intentional restriction of oxygen to the brain for the purposes of sexual arousal. The term autoerotic asphyxiation is used when the act is done by a person to themselves. Colloquially, a person engaging in the activity is sometimes called a gasper.

In this case, it would be the last gasper.

Road Scholar

I know the feeling because I also am a road scholar. The wife tells me where she wants to go anywhere in Jackson or Clinton and I just drive her pretty much straight to the place. No map or anything.
