Norm was put on this earth to tell it like it is and left us as Comedy started slouching toward celebrating falsehoods.

Colin Quinn was always a mystery to me. Other comedians always talked him up and I never found him the least bit funny.

Rogan.
Most popular dude on the planet, has done a ton for comedy. I can hardly get through his specials. He was great on News Radio.

His stand up is not as funny, but very humorously interesting, as he has a high IQ, is a great story teller & DGAF.

The stool humper Joe Rogan.

Surprised he slipped to the 4th page. I could take or leave his comedy but appreciate him for everything else.
I will say there are some comedians that excel at certain aspects. Bert is a great story teller and interview. Tim Dillon is one of my favorite guest on a podcast. His off the cuff wholly inappropriate comments where he walks himself back always kill. Rife is great with crowd work. Theo is great on podcasts. I don’t like any of their standup at all.
Schulz is the main one that I think kills it on all fronts.

You stopped short of John Oliver smart move. He's the GOAT in that genre and he is hilarious while also being incredibly informative.

He’s the main man in comedy right now as far as I’m concerned, but I could be biased because of his crowd work bits on YouTube during Covid that really got me back into standup comedy. I feel like I know so much about comedians because every week it’s a different podcast, I love Bert, the Pitts and pussies bit still makes me laugh. Andrew doesn’t normally go into his personal life on podcasts, and if he does, it’s not on a weekly basis the same way other comedians do.

Anthony Jeselnik. His delivery just puts me to sleep

He's the reverse Theo Von. Good stand-up. Terrible podcast. Seems like an annoying person to be around, huge Sarah Silverman dick rider and has a hate boner for Louis CK.

agreed. complete package of comedian. heard him on rogan right before covid, but his schulz saves america bits on Netflix sold me. obviously he has writers, but then he calls shaun king, martin luther cream, talcom x, thurgood marshmallow, shamrock obama, pale sharpton, technically white, i mean right, caucus garvey, snow j simpson, w.e.b. deblonde, and rose' parks i lost it.

Dave Chapelle
Good… Dave Chappelle did more for race relations than anyone else in my younger generation only to have it all torn down by present day politicians and fellow elitists.
Sad that one of my idols Kafka would be the one to mention Dave’s name in a thread like this but I’m pretty sure it’s safe to assume based on his shtick he was just trying to get attention and wasn’t being serious. Oh you! guess you can be forgiven for forgetting the sarcasm font

Yea his material is average. It’s his crowd work that is decent
I just recently started paying attention to Matt Rife. You’re right - his standup is average. But his crowd work isn’t just decent, it’s the best I’ve seen aside from Don Rickles.

Who gives a shite? What has that got to do with being funny?
Give him Obama's old Nobel Peace Prize if it matters so much to you.

Interesting that Chapelle is now the Untouchable One. Used to be Robin Williams. Also the Seinfeld sitcom - Chapelle seems to be replacing that for a somewhat younger generation.
I sincerely hope that, despite differences of opinion, we can still maintain a civilized discourse and exchange of ideas.
Also, frick Muslims.

The female comic world needs a few more formal comedians that don’t rely solely on gender based material. Right now it’s so formulaic it’s nauseating
Posted on 6/15/23 at 6:58 am to BRIllini07
Females aren’t funny
I love Rogan and Burt but not crazy about their standup
For the people saying Chris Rock, GTFO. He’s out of him prime now and his last special wasn’t all that, but that dude had legendary specials.

Rita Rudner is probably the only female I thought was decent

Unfortunately, a lot of the comedians I liked are now dead.
Richard Jenny
Redd Fox
John Pinette
George Carlin
Richard Pryor
As far as live comedians, Kevin Hart comes to mind with his high volume schtick of an act. It gets annoying as hell after a while. And you can throw in just about any female comedian into the mix.
