But please give me some suggestions of legitimate journalists they should read.

VDH, Taibbi, and Dersh are vaunted dem legal minds that have all been vocal about the abuse of the democrat police state. They've written extensively about it.

I have several black men friends who are leftist and. I always point them to Larry Elder. Not a journalist, I know, but an educated black man with perspective.

Well, I’ve got some authors/books for you. I like Alex Berenson. Candace Owens’s “Blackout” is good. Also can’t imagine having not read “The Real Anthony Fauci.” Brian Rees’s “How Reasonable Americans Should Support Trump” is my next read. I’m now on “The Man Behind the Curtain” by Matt Palumbo. I have learned so much about the Deep State and sadly not only the corruption and greed which is bad enough, but also evil…pure evil.

Leftist is probably impossible. But independents and real moderates or blue dog democrats, speak the truth. Point out how there is an establishment. It’s not R or D. It’s a machine to tax and spend our money.
Then I go into America first, domestic energy, healthy economy, rising wages etc.
Then drop the Truth bomb and say I just described Donald Trump. Then they don’t believe it because they are brainwashed by the media. Then show them proof and boom. They realize they have been bing lied to. And once they see it they can’t unsee it.
Just did it to a friend in New Jersey. She had no clue what Trump did for this country.
Books are great for us. But it’s so shocking to them getting it all at once they believe the lies it’s a conspiracy. When it’s the truth

They publish factual data/ articles and cannot be swayed because they know what’s at stake in the USA.
I’ll say this, the BIGGEST conservative, freedom loving people in this country are those that immigrated from communism.
Find an ex-Cuban, Chinese, Venezuelan etc immigrant, and you will find a Patriot at heart. Those are the people we need running for office in all states and DC, they cannot be bought.

In today's time, the only thing that will lead them away is intellectual honesty. Sit back, be confident you're on the right side of history. Let them figure it out.
Answer honest questions honestly and without emotion. Be calm and when the conversation goes south, like it will, let the conversation die and show you are disinterested in spelling shite out.

generally the best way to change someone's views especially a progressive person is to find commonality first then discuss where ones ideas might be divergent in a rational articulated way and then allow space for them to think about these ideas after the discussion. Got ya's and name calling will get people emotional and they will stop listing to what you say.
However, If this is for a girlfriend or wife, I suggest you disregard the top paragraph and avoid any type of political discussion because you aren't going to change their mind and its just going to piss them off.
