Well, that should take all the subjective judgement out of it. Problem solved.
Yes
It will
Can’t understand why so many are against this
I’ve always been against inconsistent rules in sports
The check swing is one of the most inconsistent rules in sports today
Well just make it you can’t move your bat forward if you can’t understand the difference between swinging the bat over the plate
Again I will ask anyone
How can a check swing be legal
But a balk is not?
A pitching rule vs. a batting rule

That’s a very vague statement though. I’ll ask again, if a player turns his hips and the bat drops an inch from the starting point. Is that a swing? The rule is written to define what “starting a swing” means. It sounds like you want to just keep the same rule, but make the home plate umpire have authority of the call.
Ok
That’s fair
But what I’m saying is there should be something in between
You shouldn’t be able to get your bat close to the plate but of course you can turn your hip and drop the bat an inch
That’s an easy call for the ump behind the plate or anybody else in the ballpark
Don’t pull the trigger if you don’t mean to shoot

So you don’t want to make any changes? I’m confused on your point lol. For example, if a batter turns his hips and the bat barely drops, are you saying that should be a swing?
If you start a swing it’s a strike
The dumbass behind the plate that is two feet away can make the call without asking another dumb arse 90 feet away

I would say, however, that the home plate umpire has a pretty bad angle on if the bat crossed the plate.
Nothing against you, but I think that’s a weak argument

You’ve just described the current rule of the check swing.
So you don’t want to make any changes?
This is not hard
Just back up the “oh I changed my mind” rule to
If you start to swing the bat it’s a freaking strike
It’s really simple
Name me another play in any sport that you get a do over
That’s playground nonsense
A gold goal kicker…I didn’t follow through
Let me kick it again
A balk should be eliminated if a check swing is legal
I didn’t mean to do it, no harm no foul!
The problem with a check swing is the batter wins by making a mistake
He gets a ball instead of a strike

A guy that’s two feet away is incapable of making the call
But a guy 90 feet away gets it right all of the time
Yea that makes sense
But a guy 90 feet away gets it right all of the time

That is the current rule
Well I see it often when the bat is across the plate
Then the home plate ump has to ask another ump to make the call
WTF is the home plate guy looking at when he’s two feet away
I know your going to say he’s watching the ball not the bat
That’s stupid
And do you really think the first or third base dumbass is paying attention to?

So do away with the current rule and make the new rule pretty much the same thing.
Got it
No
Y’all are being sillier than what you accuse me of being
There should be no do overs in legitimate sports
You started your swing and got your bat across the plate….
That’s a strike
re: Bama since the Fall…..

It is terribly disappointing and sad for the bamas.
I feel sorry for them

So how would you rule it then?
Anytime you make any movement it’s a swing?
Pretty much
Make so it’s obvious
Like you can only move a little bit.
Can a pitcher stop halfway and say I didn’t want to make that pitch?
Just eliminate the check swing please

So many can go either way
And the umps get it wrong most of the time

Extremely insightful
Is Vitello really a dickhead?

Or is it just an act?

Yes
I have to trust in our HC
He was a QB
He knows something about this guy

You know better than our HC
That was a QB!
