Another Dallisgrass thread

This stuff has to be from satan. Backyard is approx 20,000 sq feet of lawn. We have a pool and play volleyball frequently back there. I've managed to eradicate all weeds including dallisgrass from around the pool and volleyball court but that still leaves a large space. The bermuda is doing great since started pre emergent Spring and Fall and regular fertilizing over past two years. I mow about every 3 days.
Still leaves a very large space of hundreds, maybe thousand of those satanic clumps. I'm not sure if my 48 year old self is up to digging up every one of those or just relax and let it coexist.
Anyone ever tackled a large area of dallisgrass and is there any other way other than a small spade or hand digging tool? Would a total kill, new dirt, and plant seed work? That's about what happened in the other areas but was forced due to the pool build.

You can dig, use glyphosate, or spend a lot of money on Total Tribute. Only options.

glyphosate
This on a small paint brush or rubber glove with a mesh glove soaked in it works great. Can do a huge area in only 15-20 minutes this way.

Bermuda grows fast, just nuke the dallisgrass and let the Bermuda fill in.

been there, spilled cup. 10/10 if done correctly, 0/10 with large area of good grass gone pecan if done poorly
Edit: round up also makes a gel that comes in a deodorant looking container, might be worth a look for OP, you can paint it on with a small paintbrush

The un questioned king is MSMA. Is it “illegal” for residential use? Yup…. is anyone ever gonna know? Nope
Posted on 6/10/22 at 2:48 pm to TexasHand
Yea, that’s what I was going to suggest. MSMA

If someone could obtain MSMA, how exactly would that same someone go about application of said MSMA? Assuming that a spot spray is in order, at what rate?
Posted on 6/10/22 at 4:28 pm to Knucklehead
Label rate is 1oz/1-2.5gal per 1000sqft
Posted on 6/10/22 at 4:54 pm to TexasHand
Guess I need to find that dark alley where MSMA is sold

DIY pest control
Just got some two weeks ago for the same issue. No problem getting it. Haven’t applied yet

Healthy soil = no weeds. Work on that, and everything else takes care of itself.

Weeds grow from seeds or stolons/rhizomes. Fantastic soil does not act as a pre em. Yes it matters slightly ie: nutsedge prefers poor drainage, goosegrass prefers compacted soil. However weeds are gonna grow regardless of soil.

Dallis grass is a PITA.
I’m battling an outbreak of it near my gate - the high traffic from my kids and dog left a bare patch which was apparently perfect for a bunch of Dallis grass to flourish.
I’ve been pulling them by hand, a few at a time.

Will pre-emergent help next spring?

Ordered - thank you, I’ve been looking for this stuff for years. Hope it’s got a decent shelf life, with 2.5 gallons I should be set for life.
