For those of you who love to harp on what our ancestors did to the Natives...

I'm sorry, but the Conquistadors gave to the Inca and the Aztec what they truly deserved. These were blood thirsty empires who frequently sacrificed children and young women to their blood god for good fortune. Cortes and Pizarro are freaking heroes in my book, despite their personal flaws.

Yeah... cause it's the Aztecs and the Spainish they are talking about.

For fricks sake.

I'm not arguing one way or the other, but this point makes zero sense.

Pretty much Everyone back then was brutal and nasty. And if you were more peaceful, It’s only because generations back you’d managed to wipe out the other violent peoples in the area, and other tribes hadn’t come attacking you yet,

Same as the entire world over

Natives? What natives? There are no natives to the American continents.

Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee had the most historically accurate movie dialogue in history.

Carlin did a piece on this in one of his podcasts where he described the Europeans coming to America to a pride of lions that had been hardened and battle tested on the Serengeti finding a mountain pass that opened up to an entire continent of labs, sheep, and the equivalent of a dog that had never truly been challenged.

I thought it was apt.

The other non Aztec people in the area were not sad to see the Aztecs obliterated . They worked with the Spanish.

You should read Empire of the Summer Moon. The Comanches literally made sport of torturing Apache , Kiawa, Sioux, Cheyenne and other plains tribes. Their female tribe members equally participated in the torture. They enslaved young women and children as well.

There is a whole section of society that think native tribes in the western hemisphere were these peaceful garden of Eden dwellers.

And then Europeans showed up.

In truth, these tribes were no different than the tribes of the rest of the world.

Archeology kills all modern narratives as most of the "native" tribes we can identify came from Africa or Asia or northern Europe by boat or land bridge and when they arrived in these areas killed and conquered the people who were here before them.

When they complain about stolen land all the time I just wonder why they don’t take it back?

They have had all this time.
