How does that sound like a miserable like?
We had Serops the other day, two chicken dinners and two drinks it was $50. I know prices have gone up, but what used to be just over $30 is now $50?
The fricking dollar is worth a pile of shite.

I ate at BrewBachers in Baton Rouge. Damn Jalepeno burger was $10. add fries and a coke, the bill was like $18. And the burger was cold and did not have any taste.
Go to Piccadilly, and leave $17 dollars lighter plue if you tip a 5 spot, you are out $22 for a meal that might keep you full for four hours.

what’s wrong with ordering water?
Yeah I guess I shouldn't have commented about ordering water. Nothing really wrong with it, but OP is sounding like a cheap arse in general. Of course restaurants are more expensive these days.
Also for all you cook every meal at home folks, I hope it's not a shocker for you to realize that most things you buy from the store is a lot more expensive as well.
Going out to eat with the wife or family once a week seems like a normal thing to me. No cooking and doing dishes has it's perks.

I haven't gone there in years, but I remember getting a burger and it not being that great. Are the patties thick? I want to say the burger I had wasn't cooked in the middle.
Im not trying to give them a bad rap and I have gone there and had no problem, but like I said, this was the last time I ate there, which was years ago when I worked close by.

So wait. 3 people went out to eat and it cost roughly $25/person? Alert the presses!

The dollar has actually been really strong lately. The Juan, yen and euro have all taken a dive recently and the dollar remains strong. Imagine how bad inflation would be with a weak dollar.

but what I experienced today was on a different level.
Different strokes for different folks but 80 bucks at a nice steakhouse is a entry level bottle of wine and maybe an app

Saltgrass the other day- 2 iced teas and one soda. One rib plate, a soup and salad, and a chicken sandwich was around $70-80 after tip.
Lunch the next day at a diner was $22 each for a meat plus 2 and a pie per person plus same drinks - was $80-90 after tip.
30 piece nuggets, med fry, and an unsweetened tea at Chick-fil-A to split between 2 people was $22.
Just how fat are you?

I can't be alone in thinking a vast majority of these restaurants are artificially inflating prices. Just seems way too easy to do and hide within a food industry that has the "inflation cry" down pat. Doesn't pass the smell test.

Do communist countries have many restaurants?

You would be correct if you had said that restaurant suppliers and vendors have been artificially raising their prices. By the time a restaurant finally raises their prices, they have usually exhausted every Avenue to not do so.

Went to Zea for dinner.
2 soft drinks
1 appetizer
Shrimp and grits entree
Hawaiian rotisserie entree

Is that meant to be a lot? Seems about right.

And you would be wrong.
Do tell.
Seems we can all find 4 lbs of wings at Walmart for less than 15 bucks. But apparently, places with wings charge 3-4 times the price per pound. There are other examples all over the food business sector.
The new paradigm is to pass costs onto the consumer because the consumer is eaten up with the mindset everything is 4 times as high. Don't buy into that.

I bet the labor rates are killing the restaurants more than anything.

Also can we talk about places charging for to go ?
Last week I did pickup from a local place. $1.25 up charge per entree for to go orders.
I know how much those boxes cost. A few pennies.
If a restaurant needs an extra $1.25 to make it it’s probably not going to make it.
