I can’t recall a time where lunch was $5 unless it was a special somewhere.

I used to work with a dude who would go to Our Lady of the Lake to eat lunch.. I think on Thursdays because they used to have a $2 special. This was over 10 years ago.

Dude used to eat MREs on a regular basis because his firefighter friend gave him a box of them right after Gustav. His lunch was... Once a week the Our Lady of the Lake meal.. The other days it was MREs or meals that would be ordered if a meeting would go through lunch. So he spent $2.16 a week on lunch.

You must not have been to the grocery stores either cause it costs just as much to cook.

No.. It doesn't. Yes prices are higher, but you telling me you are paying the same amount for a steak in the grocery store as you do at a restaurant?

A quarter pounder meal at McDonald's was $2.99 + tax when I was in HS. 13 quarters and you had a meal. And no I was not fat.

Now it’s like $8

In Hawaii, I’m sure a quarter pounder meal costs over $10+

IKR?? It used to cost $5-10 for lunch now it's $10-25. Gotta brown bag these days

McDonalds currently has a 2 for $6 mix and match that includes a big mac or double cheeseburger. Ya'll can take the lady out to eat and get some water out the hose on the side of the building and save a ton of money.

Exactly. With tax, it was $3.23. I have a very distinct memory of scraping change for a value meal at the Jones Creek McDonalds circa 1992-93. I don’t know why I remember that so distinctly.

We got that McDonald's in Central when I was in HS and my parents were divorced so I didn't exactly have Paula Dean meals waiting for me. I remember taking 13 quarters out of my dad's change bucket for meals after football practice

Sounds like 2022 restaurant dining prices to me

I doubt he ordered apps or drinks. He said the bill was $80 and didn't mention tips. This implies that each entree was around $24 before taxes and tip.

I don't know what a bacon biscuit cost there now, but I want to say it used to be like $0.69. A bacon biscuit and a orange juice was under $2.

But since we are talking about what things used to cost, I came across this earlier. Its the average gas price for each year, how much it went up or down from the previous year with a summary of the gas situation.

This was in 2000 when gas hit $1.56 a gallon.

We made sure everyone had $3.23 before we left to go out so we could have those midnight value meals. I didn't even like quarter pounders but I ordered them and threw most of it away so I could be like everyone else

$80 / 3 = $26 per person.

Is $26 per person a lot?

I just run a hooters but I would tell you that you aren't just paying for food. For example, I've got a couple hundred thousand in audio and visual equipment for you to enjoy as part of the experience

Around ‘96 I had a night class and would get a double quarter afterwards, $4.25 then, now $10-ish.

For what he ordered? Yep.

He’s not complaining about paying $26 per person for prime filets with a couple rounds of cocktails
