I’m kind of leaning that way myself. I think it’s more geared towards seeing how weak they can make an already weak Biden look on a global stage. You can gain a shite ton of leverage if other countries begin to doubt the USA’s commitment should conflict occur.

According to Ukrainians you are correct and this is politicians being politicians.

There’s a good chance this is correct, but there’s still a decent chance that they’re wrong and Russia does invade. Why in the frick would you take the risk of having your baby stuck in a war zone? You have the ability to leave, take your child and go. The risks of staying far outweigh any benefits from staying.

I am supposed to be heading to Poland (Auschwitz) and Ukraine (Chernobyl) in five weeks. Hopefully this shite will blow over before then.

Yeah it’ll be pretty much like a hurricane recovery. You should be good to go.

I would leave. They are capable of simply turning the lights off if they wanted to. I would be scared to even have any device I owned connected to any sort of internet. He will use those things first.

The 82nd Airborne has about five thousand pairs of boots on the ground in Poland. I think you will be ok there unless it is overrun with refugees from Ukraine.

Assuming OP isn't just trolling - if baby is old enough to travel, any chance you can take a two week vacation somewhere on the continent?

Bounce to Germany for a couple of weeks, find an AirBNB and see what happens?

Nothing is going to happen so I would just continue with your plans.

The oil markets suggest you might be a little off the mark.

Oh well I guess if she believes so then that’s a good enough reason to risk having your family killed

Is this really a risk though?

It’s the Ukraine and Russia, and he’s a civilian.

It’s not like he’s in Mogadishu.

I would leave

But like others have stated. It’s not like Russia is going to come in (if they do) like ISIS and start beheading civilians.

This isn’t WW2 where all the women are going to get raped and men shot.

Ukraine and Russia are very close. And even the Ukrainian PM said he doesn’t believe anything will happen and that it’s all overblown by western media. Actually leading some to believe he is a puppet of the Russian government.

They’re going to bomb strategic defenses. Shell defensive positions. And have focused fronts.

It’s not like they’re going to glass the entire country.

Most news outlets are saying that the Ruskies will attack first with rockets & airplane bombs. Infantry to attack only after the massive bombardment. Check out what the Germans did to London during The Blitz.

It's 1030pm here, so I will call it a night. I will decide in the morning.

I'm leaning towards leaving and hoping Russia doesn't invade. If they do, I would probably put my wife more at risk because of me being American. I don't want her interrogated.

This is not an easy decision though. I will pray and see how I feel in the morning.

It’s an easy decision. Take your family and go elsewhere.
