Was at Phil's for lunch just now an overheard some dude wearing LSU attire tell the guy at the table with him that Corey Raymond was a done deal coming back here and Diaco was gonna be DC! I have old ears, but I do know when to evesdrop! Would this be good or bad?

The guy in LSU attire was probably a TD poster.

I’m fine with diaco with a short leash. Surround him with a great staff and I’m not sure Raymond is that guy

CBK is either gonna keep House or hire outside DC, he aint promoting from current staff, see decisions to promote analysis to DL and ST coaches before season, not a good idea

Which year did ND try to cover the Bama slot receiver with a linebacker and literally got run out the stadium off slants and crosses? Was that the BCS championship in around 2012 or was that the semifinal game a couple years ago? If it was 2012ish then that was Diaco's gameplan and that was about as terrible a gameplan as no spy by Perkins this year.

Diaco feels like a denbrock hire. Older been around for a while and has comfort and history with Kelly. Which means the rant will hate it (I might even be in that number) but it ends up working out well.

That'd be a fireable offense for Brian Kelly.

Why.

Please tell me why it would be a bad hire. Preferably with stats to back it up.

Frank Wilson pushing hard to have Corey back.

Diaco is not going to be DC.

Diaco is a damn good DC. He’s still recovering in the coaching circles from a failed stint as HC. I would prefer someone else, but we could do worse than Diaco, former Broyles award winner and still fairly young at 50.

Corey better be able to coach more than man coverage this time.

Look, I know Diaco is not exciting but neither was Denbrock and that worked out. While it was 10 years ago, he won the Broyles award at 38 years old for a reason. Don't forget BK is an offensive coach, so probably is a little more hands off with the defense. He's not my first choice, but I'd be cautiously optimistic with Diaco as DC.

Describe this attire because it goes a long way towards credibility.

I think you're referring to when Ohio State lined up a white linebacker on Devonta Smith in the 2020 CFP semis.

Also, even if it was the 2012 title with Diaco at DC, you don't make a hiring decision based off of an 11 year old gameplan
