I don’t think OM could do it but it’s wild a lot of the LSU fans would leave it up to chance. If we let him coach and yall did win he wouldn’t leave

Eh…Americans have an attention span of a gnat.

Will be a few days of hand wringing, but will be forgotten by everyone but Miss. people.

We won’t give a shite

Not trolling at all - don’t you think his reputation is already trashed? Just feels like it would be hard to stay after all this drama

Why wouldn’t we?

Throwing money at a roster doesn't guarantee success without a good hire(see LSU this year). Seems like Ole Miss wants to buy it's way to a good roster but they are one bad hire away from being mediocre along with not being a brand name that recruits itself if they struggle any.

Such an easy fix, especially since that's the way it was for years

It has taken a hit and I think he and Jimmy Sexton greatly underestimated the backlash this would cause. Which is why there is a pause

The only reason he is getting away with dragging this out is because there is a serious dropoff in candidate quality after him.

Someone is claiming, though, that Kiffin has gone on the offensive and may take certain staff members loyal to him with him if he is forced out early, leaving ole miss short handed on coaches for the playoffs. Seems like a hardball stance, but, if true, gives Kiffin real leverage in his supposed desire to coach playoffs and go to LSU after.

Man I was ambivalent on kiffin before.

Now I friggin want him

No school should let a coach finish the season who is taking a job at another school, especially anotjer conference school. He would spend his final days convincing certain players, coaches and recruits to follow him to his new school.

Kiffen has no leverage. He does not own the assistants or players. That’s not even a rumor.

No Lane has all the leverage. That’s why Ole Miss is agonizing over this decision. He wins no matter what. He’s the best candidate for 2 jobs and he knows it. If Ole Miss fires him he gets a buyout. If they suspend him he can just leave for LSU and he knows Ole Miss will hire an inferior coach. He knows LSU has no hire that’s available who is equal to him. It’s Lane’s world here.

I assume the entire coaching staff at Ole Miss was hired by Kiffin. Not only are they probably friends and or loyal to Kiffin, they have no idea who the next coach will be or if they will be retained.

Kiffin may not own them, but he has the leverage. Their only guarantee of a job next year might be if Kiffin hires them to LSU.

If Kiffin did indeed tell Ole Miss he will take coaches with him if not allowed to coach the playoffs, I would think this would worry Ole Miss greatly.

And it is a rumor. By their very nature, rumors need not be true nor even plausible for that matter. In any event, I am not vouching for it as being correct, I am just passing along a post from an ole miss board that might explain the delay.

Kiffin wants to coach playoffs and championship game and then go to LSU. No news there. Seems like a hardball stance, but, if true, gives Kiffin real leverage in his supposed desire to coach playoffs and go to LSU after. That sure would put Ole Miss AD between a rock and hard place. I am not sure how this would make ole miss players feel.

I’m an Ole Miss alum. I wouldn’t put too much stock into this as we have a small percentage of the fanbase that is intent on turning Kiffin into a villain. This is their defense instead of proudly stating all of the valid reasons for him to stay. It’s so WAOM and I’m over that victim mentality. We’re a good program. So is LSU. I don’t get it.

Could happen but neither school can take that chance.
