Unless one of "either" or "or" got his feelings hurt and took his ball and went to jortville, er I mean home.

This should give us insight on the likely DC hire. Who among the rumored candidates or otherwise has coached DBs?
I'm not sure how to feel about this... but Daronte has.

And I do know how to feel about this (one could hope/wish)... Jim Leonhard has.

If he’s so damn qualified, why wasn’t he DB coach at ND? He was an analyst…think about that.

Maybe LSU was tired of Corey constantly testing the market then and said best of luck? I love Corey and the loss of him sucks I completely agree. Something going on that we won’t know about until we hear about it. LSU doing a complete reboot and this is where we’re at. It seems to me like Corey is going to have a say in the overall defense at Florida which doesn’t seem to be the case at LSU.

This has been an absolute disaster so far. I was a huge fan of the Kelly hire. But from what I’ve seen it’s been extremely disappointing

Hahahahahaha.

A disaster?

You are one dumb sob.

Gotta love how fans look at 247 sports to see where guys coached and who they recruited and just determine they’re a worthless coach

Deuce and Mustang have vaginal bleeding. They really believe Kelly is going to hire a scrub and place him in a position that he is not qualified for. They really believe that.

Before people start bashing this hire go back and look at his résumé played both in college in the NFL. And definitely has the skins on the wall to be a defensive backs coach

He was already defensive backs coach for Oklahoma a few years back for a couple years, and that group was historically terrible.

Just sayin.

Kelly knows what he's doing and he makes the decisions so I'll remain patient and see how it all plays out.

When Cooks left Notre Dame for OU, ND fans were ecstatic. When Cooks got kicked from OU to Texas Tech, OU fans were ecstatic. LSU fans will be ecstatic when he leaves LSU. I'm sorry, but Cooks is not good as a coach.

He must be a BBQ artist for BK then. Got to keep that coaching circle BBQ buddies going. Miles knew how to do it best when he shitcanned Peveto then hired him again. Maybe BK can do the same with Denbrock?

This board will praise a hire like Denbrock but shite all over Jimbo's offense because that's how retarded they are.

Fans are haters. That’s just what they do. Virtually none of them know football and have no idea who is actually a good coach.

I try to judge coaches by who hires them. Cooks has been hired, and even rehired, by some elite coaches.

And again I repeat, if Cory is the best DB coach in the history of the world and yet his coaching ability could not overcome a terrible defensive scheme….why is anyone melting until the whole staff is in place ?

We may all think there is an unlimited budget for the coaching staff, but there really isn’t. It’s very large but not unlimited. If LSU is going to get the caliber of coordinators we are hoping, they don’t have $1M salaries to throw at 2 non-coordinators. There’s also the question of the morale of the rest of the staff. If Wilson and Raymond get titles and million dollar salaries, they are going to believe they merit that too. There’s really not enough money and titles for that. When everybody’s special, no one is.

And yet after he left OU, they still finished 82nd in passer rating defense in 2019 and 100th in 2021. (They did have a great pandemic season in 2020 in between.) I don’t see any evidence there that Cooks was the sole problem or even the primary problem.

LSU gives up another long uncontested touchdown play. There seemed to be some "Miscommunication" because the nearest LSU player was 20 yards from the wide open receiver.

That's the Corey Raymond I remember....

He's also been an analyst for 2 years after being fired from his last 2 jobs (both not exactly tough/SEC-caliber ones, either)

This whole discussion should really be 2 discussions:

1. Is Corey Raymond more valuable than Frank Wilson?

2. Is Cooks a suitable replacement for Corey Raymond?

The answer to 1 is clearly no and should be universal, and I think there should be a consensus that 2 is clearly no, as well.
