yes, but there was a significant exodus of players from that 2023 roster, incl 3 major players who followed Fritz. Sumrall had to work the portal to backfill roster.

Alot of people don't realize Sumrall took over a Troy team that was 5-6 under Chip Lindsey two straight seasons...Sumrall went 11-2 and 12-2, winning back to back Sunbelt championships. Took Tulane job after going 23-4 at Troy...

I get that, but a bad loss in SECCG could knock them out of playoffs, fair or not.

I just think they don’t want to have any surprises after going public with whatever plan they have agreed upon.

We will see…if AUB keeps it a close game and no announcement during the game, maybe the outcome of that game plays a role.

It seems obvious…

Kiffin has not spoken to his team, bc young people can’t keep secrets about anything, certainly not over 100 plus 25+ coaches/support staff.

They are waiting for the outcome of the iron bowl before putting any of this in motion. OM has NEVER played in SECCG. Not gonna announce prematurely, to only have AUB pull the upset…

Lastly, maybe Kiffin and Sexton were able to convince Carter that it’s a win-win for him to allow Kiffin to coach them in the playoffs. If LSU has a legal option for Kiffin to sign a legally binding future contract with punitive penalty (like $20M), then I can see them allowing him to coach OM in playoffs.
60% LSU
30% UF
10% stays

I just don’t see how you walk it back after you send your family to tour UF Sunday, then send them to tour LSU Monday.

He has had a contract extension with a 50% raise on his desk for weeks, salary comparable to offers from LSU and UF. You don’t send the entourage to tour if you intend to stay, and you don’t send them unless you have already decided you are leaving…just having them provide personal input and ensure neither new option offers social dealbreakers.

OM has told him that they need to know up front and asap if he intends to move on, and they are preparing for that likelihood…my intuition is if Kiffin leaves, Golding will be interim and coach the playoff game(s) and they will hire Sumrall, put him in place off the field and allow him to get after assembling some of the staff and recruiting.
So was it “resign or be fired”? So he gets buyout regardless?

Because straight up, unilateral quiting should not include severance pay.
He’s just confirming the reports that SW is out as soon as the new president is announced…
He is well known to be a supporter of DEI.
Can’t imagine a sitting conservative governor is gonna hire a person diametrically on the oppo side of him politically…

No thank you.

No particular order…

MAKE THEM SAY NO…
Saban
Lanning

Jedd Fisch: UW
Jeff Lebby: MooSt
Brent Key: GT
Jeff Brohm: Lville
Jon Sumrall: Tulane
Alex Golesh: USF
Rhett Lashlee: SMU
Clark Lea: Vandy

That’s a helluva list to start with…after Saban says no 10x to a 5yr-$75M golden parachute ??
7 for sure…lose out and go 5-7, he’s gone.
Maybe 6…beat WKy, but lose out in conference to go 6-6, he could be gone then.
Make no mistake, LK has done well at Ole Miss. In the last 50 years, OM has had (4) 10+ win seasons, and LK has 3 of them. Cutcliffe won 10 with Eli Manning in 2003. By contrast, LSU has had (16) 10+ win seasons, 11 in the last 25 years, including 2 by BK.

Now, Ole Miss may have been LSU's rival in the 50s and 60s, during which time LSU won the NC in 1958 and OM won it all in 1959, 1960, and 1962. However, besides a tie with LSU for the SEC western division title in '03 (see above), OM has not won the division or SEC title since 1963.

LSU has 12 SEC titles, last in 2019.

LK has made OM consistently relevant for the first time in 60 years, but OM will NEVER be comparable to LSU as a football program and powerhouse...

Have 2 and a parking pass…
combination of really wet conditions in the outfield (Thibodaux had 1.5" rain overnight) AND the wind chill tonight led to the mutual decision to postpone the game. They may be considering playing Monday at Alex Box, and LSU go to Thibodaux for the April play date scheduled...
Soft
Weak
Beta
Undisciplined
Poor technique
POORLY COACHED.

Tell me I’m wrong…Kelly does not come across as an alpha male. No one on our staff comes across that way.
Kelly is on his second OC and 2nd DC and isn’t through his 3rd season yet. He ran off Tommy Moffit, which appears to have been a huge loss, as we are quite weak in the trenches on both sides. Brad Davis has to be held accountable too for the lack of run blocking ability. We have large humans on the OL. The lack of technique combined with the absence of aggressive demeanor and grit has black holed our run game. We had almost a year to prepare our O line to learn and master traditional run block schemes to transition away from JD’s run game. We cannot run block consistently.

Although BB is in the first yr of implementing his system, his defense has incementally regressed. We had TWO WEEKS to prepare for MILROE, who we 100% know is gonna run a lot, yet we look like we never saw him play ever. POORLY COACHED and poor technique.

Now, if the true reason is talent, that falls on Kelly and Co as well. He’s on the verge of his 3rd full recruiting class…plus the portal, and he should be able to rebuild the roster, especially on defense.

Nuss has to become more disciplined and mature with decision making with the ball. He demoralizes the defense when he turns it over, especially on bonehead decisions. Can’t afford to be so damn careless with the football.

Kelly is on the verge of really digging a deep hole if this ‘25 class doesn’t produce equal to the hype. Skill guys and BU are fantastic, but if we don’t drastically improve in the trenches and on defense quick, gonna have to get used to L’s like that vs the likes of Bama, UGA, and others that are far more physical in those areas.
Confirmed.

Need 6 for Tuesday vs Nicholls St.
Looking for sec 214-218.
Could use a parking pass as well.

ISO: 6 tickets for LSU/Nicholls 4/23
