Yea that’s the kind of knee jerk shite that makes me wonder how some of these people function in real life lol

People are simply calling it like it is. Flint is a great hire. Polian is an outstanding hire. Cooks is a mediocre hire at best.
bullshite. This is actually a reasonable take, but it is most definitely the exception. That is NOT what many others here are doing, and it’s been a constantly repeating cycle over the last three weeks. The same people have been shitting and melting all over 3 boards because:
- Woody botched the search. We’re going to end up with Stoops or BOB!!!!!!
Then that turned out to be completely false. Next up it was:
- We’re paying him $15 mil?
That wasn’t true either, but that doesn’t stop anyone around here. After that we had:
- Kelly is just sitting around doing nothing. He’s not recruiting or hiring staff!!!!
Now know that was bullshite, too. Just because the LSU Athletic Dept and football staff no longer leak like a fricking sieve, it doesn’t mean nothing is happening.
And now we have the latest drama for tRant crazies to lose their shite over.
Is Cooks a great hire? No. However, I think we know at this point that he will not be coaching the secondary alone. Either he will be an understudy to a DC who specializes in the secondary, or there will be a CB coach to work along with him. Nail that hire and this is a non-issue.
Let’s look back a couple of years. Was Busch some otherworldly Safeties coach or recruiter? No, he wasn’t. He may have been a little better than Cooks, but he wasn’t as good of a coach or a recruiter as Raymond. Did people here melt over him being brought in? Did he drag us down? From the outside, it certainly seemed like he and Raymond did fine working together.
Here’s the thing about the people melting down over every little detail of this process- you’ve already been wrong REPEATEDLY. Let it play out and see who the rest of the hires are. Based on the last two weeks, I’m willing to bet cold, hard cash that you will all end up being wrong again. There will be another hire with secondary experience much closer to what we are used to and that will be the end of it. I’m sure you will all move on to bitching about the OC and DC by then.

Secondary sucked arse the last few years…. believe dat. Take your purple and gold tampon out and look at it objectively. Not saying Cooks rocks but kicking CR to the curb isn’t a bad thing

He actually coached outside linebackers his first year at ND under Kelly. I don’t think that’s what he’ll do here, but I did want to correct the record. His last gig was safeties and Brian Kelly has had 2 DB coaches on his staff. He will probably be *a* DB coach, but he will not be the only one. It’s not at all certain he’ll coach CBs given his more recent assignments.

How big of a name was Raymond before LSU?
Corey Raymond actually invented the DB position. He taught Jim Thorpe the position.

Apples to apples its as good, if not better than Raymond's.
Why pay an analyst that much?

Corey Raymond not only invented the DB position, he also gets credit for a new move called botched coverage and explosive play rate.

I did look at his resume. It's not impressive and he's not a good recruiter.
You have no idea what you are looking at then.

What he’s filled less than 10% of his staff. You’re a total fricking crybaby man
People here really believe we didn’t have issues on our staff other than O. The truth is we had asst. coaches and analysts who collected checks that weren’t commensurate with the product they put on the field.
That UCLA game was a disgrace

Because he isn't an analyst Lonn. He coaches safeties.

Eat shite everyone that said he wasn't going to be an onfield coach.
You and i got ahite on last night.
"You don't know if he is even an on field coach".
Denial.

Only thing that would make the Corey raymond hire better is if you packed that shitty website LSUOdyssey and turned it into GatorOdyssey so you could suck Raymond off some more.

Yes if Deronte Jones is DC does that ease this concern?

Anyone saying they'd trade Cooks for Raymond is on some serious copium shite right now.
I’m not saying that.
But you realize it wasn’t a Raymond vs Cooks call right?
It was much more likely a Raymond vs Frank call.
Makes things a bit more complicated right?

LSU's roster is not going to be recognizable next year. You probably getting Boutte, BJ, and Sage in the transfer portal as well. I'm sure there's more. Sage and Boutte to Bama.

great recruiter
If you go by his recruiter rankings, he was not a great recruiter. He whiffed on more dbs than he signed with the moniker DBU on his business card.
LSU is DBU, not Corey. He just happens to be the guy who showed up when Ron Copper left

They were going to hire a safeties coach whether they kept Raymond or not. This is not Raymond vs Cooks.
