I did look at his resume. It's not impressive and he's not a good recruiter.

You didn't look at his recruiting pulls if you think he isn't a good recruiter.

LSU's roster is not going to be recognizable next year.
Newsflash: we are 11-11 in the last two seasons...change was needed...the people that want to be here will be here...I wouldn't want it any other way...

Is it possible CBK already has his OC and DC hires but hasn’t announced them due to their current coaching duties? I don’t think he could hire these asst coaches publicly without the DC and OC signing off. It’s not Daronte or he would already have been announced. Probably Golding and the Cincy DC.

More than likely he'll be the safeties coach. Like Bill Busch was for 3 seasons and Daronte Jones this season.

It was much more likely a Raymond vs Frank call.

That's fair I just hope nobody on here has expectations next season or even maybe the next few. It's a full rebuild job now.

Could get lucky and see a Michigan State transformation through the portal. We'll see.

that's ridiculous. This is a 9-3 team this year with a decent coach. Hard to tell about next year bit similar wouldn't surprise me

So having the recruiting coordinator title was the deciding factor, really???
I would think not. Hell, based on Frank's recent jobs, u could give him the associate HC title

Boy are you setting yourself up for disappointment. I hope you know this roster purge isn't done yet.

Kelly has always had two coaches handling defensive backs. Cooks will be one of them. He’s either going to hire a DB specialist DC OR hire another DB coach. Y’all need to settle down

This should give us insight on the likely DC hire. Who among the rumored candidates or otherwise has coached DBs?

Associate Head Coach is what Frank is not just Recruiting Coordinator. Corey has gotten his agent to test the market year in and year out asking for a raise. He’s now the Associate Head Coach of the defense for Florida. Honestly Corey probably was ready for a change and good for him. But its not been released that Cooks is the Secondary coach yet though he could be.

But let me ask you this. Who do trust running a defense more Corey Raymond or Dave Aranda? Because when Dave came to LSU he hired Busch for Safety Coach…

Why pay an analyst that much?

He's not gonna be an analyst. He was a co-dc for 4 years at the P5 level & fielded some decent defenses. If this guy doesn't produce then I have no doubt BK will replace him. If he can teach zone concepts, man to man & recruit then he's an upgrade.

This is grossly misleading, Cooks will not be given a position at DB or anywhere else until all of the assistant positions are filled. You need to correct the title, you are being dishonest.

he’s going to coach DBs regardless, whether it’s both or just safeties or CBs. I put DBs because we don’t know which yet.

I didn’t realize it would be so controversial.

Before people start bashing this hire go back and look at his résumé played both in college in the NFL. And definitely has the skins on the wall to be a defensive backs coach

He was already defensive backs coach for Oklahoma a few years back for a couple years, and that group was historically terrible.

Just sayin.

Kelly knows what he's doing and he makes the decisions so I'll remain patient and see how it all plays out.

Capt., whenever "Co" or "Associate" titles are given, more often than not its for Developmental and/or financial reasons. Both are deserving titles relative to contributions to Frank and Corey. This should not have been an either/or proposition
