He has never landed a single 5-star recruit, and the few 4-stars were barely rated as such. I love the Kelly move, but not retaining Raymond is massive…massive misstep. That move single-handedly will result in losing numerous quality DB’s from the state of Louisiana who will now go to Florida. Guaranteed.

There have been lots of 5 stars signed by lots of coaches at LSU that wouldn't have been able to sign them had they been at another school.

Yeah you know who else had never landed a 5-star before LSU? Corey Raymond. And Billy Napier wasn't getting the 5 star athletes at ULL that he was getting at Bama. 5-star athletes are not available to the vast majority of programs out there.
You want coaches that recruit the best athletes available to them. That's all that matters.

Cooks recruited top 100 DBs while at ND and OU, and this is easily verified.
It seems like people are complaining just to complain. There is nothing about his recruiting resume that should be of concern based on where he's been.

Hell, at least Kelly is keeping the "unqualified" hires to the positions. That's improvement over the last two coordinator hires.
