Why would Golding leave Alabama for UT? It doesn't make any sense at all.

that's what I am saying. So has this dude ever called plays? How's the breakdown going of position coaches if this is the guy. Who is he bringing along with him.

Im not even sure he’d be better. What gives you that feeling? Neither has called plays anywhere. If you’re not going to give CR a chance on that basis than Ryan Nielsen’s name should never even come up, and I’m against a CR hire.

Idk, some poster suggested that before myself. I’ve heard they weren’t happy with Golding there, so I’d imagine if he leaves, even if for another job, it wasn’t his doings.

Now please argue against him so I can at least understand why he’s such a turn off to some.

I'm not really arguing against it but man if he's the guy O is Oprah with handing out scratch play sheets to newbies

It’s been mentioned. He knows Sark. Maybe he wants to run a defense out from under Saban’s thumb. It may not be a smart reason, but it’s possible. And for all their issues, Texas is still a prime job.

Can you fill me in on why Muschamp would be a good hire for Gumpland but not for us?

Same reason Golding would be a good hire for Texas and not for us. (The answer: LSU fans are dumb)

Glenn Schumann should be their top realistic target.

Corey Raymond is great at what he does, he recruits and coaches 2 CB’s, sometimes a Nickel, and this year it didn’t appear that he did that very well. Idk why you’d promote a guy that was part of a failed system to take over and fixed the failed system he was a part of. Let Corey keep doing what he’s been doing and pay him a little more if he wants. If he wants more responsibilities give him the safeties back so that at least all DBs are on the same page.
Nielson is part of pretty successful system where he is and did a damned good job at the college level before, and he’s still young. I think he’d work well with Raymond. But I just don’t see CR developing master D schemes and calling plays.

Don’t disagree with this, but at this point it’s sink or swim for O. Saw what his 2 seasoned veteran play callers (Pelini and Linehan) did for him last year. Might as well roll the dice and either he balls again next year or we get a new HC.

Nielsen’s resume makes it at least seem like he’s been more involved in the scheme.

2012 DC at Connecticut State (small potatoes)
2012 Co-DC at Northern Illinois (slightly larger potatoes, but idk if he called plays)
2013/2016 “Run game coordinator” at NC State. (Even bigger potatoes but who knows what a RGC does?”)

Still he was. Broyles award candidate 2015 and 2016 and always seems to be getting promoted.

He will coach the shite out of the DL.

Raymond’s entire coordinator experience happened at Westgate. He’s a decade older and his name hasn’t been floated as a DC all that much. You have to wonder if he was ready to take over why didn’t we hire him when Aranda left? Or why didn’t Aranda hire him?

Think he did call plays before for a couple years as DC at a lower level and maybe was a run game DC for a seasons or two somewhere. Not sure how that works with play calling duties.

Muschamp hates Saban; I doubt they ever work together again

He's an elite defensive line coach in the NFL, young, up and coming, with college recruiting and coordinating experience.

Well it is a chance to go to a Resource rich program (Texas) and run a defense without the HC being a Defensive guy as your boss. In other words, Golding goes to Texas and puts up good defensive numbers, that is more on him, and not him running the Defense under Saban's oversight. Quicker path to a HC gig if that is what Golding wants.

You have zero information about what’s going on.
Who is really the joke now?
