eam. I think we will lose the IB and then miss the playoffs all together.

DeBoer will not be at Alabama long! All of this is just my opinion!

No, ur a top 10 team. Stop it.
quote:

dk. Other threads are saying Golding won’t go with him.

And they gotta stop the basketball shite on the sideline if he does indeed come here.

tiger91: Well I think if Lane is coaching, he is going to run the program the way he runs it. He is in someway like Saban and learned from him. When Saban got here, he came in and told everyone to get out his way and everybody do ur job and let him do his.

Now he might not bring the basketball stuff on the sideline, but maybe he does. Who knows with Lane?
quote:

o be our DC.
Did our D not hold maybe every team we faced below their season average in scoring, and doing so with an offense who was 3 and out more oftethe con than not?
Baker is the highest paid DC in America and I think did a great job this year with some major injuries.
Are we really going to release Raymond and others again?
Williams sold his home in Squire Creek to move to BR and is treated like this?
I am ashamed of LSU if they put all their hopes on a guy that has never won anything , anywhere, because they think he will improve our offense, and that is probably true.
But, if our defense is like it was last year when we had the Heisman winner and best offense in the country, and one of the worst defenses in the country.
Is LSU going to hire Lane and have half a team yet again?
Do these people making the decisions know anything about winning football, because they are hiring a new crew that doesn't.

Lanes DC is Golding, who has done a good job at Ole Miss and he is one of Kiffin's top personnel guys in terms of the portal, the other is his GM.

If Lane is hired, he is going to hire who he wants to hire. That is the business of coaching.
quote:

Go ahead and ban me now and call me what you want, but hopefully he gets us some significant wins and maybe a championship or two.

This could also be the biggest troll job in history…

Like you noted, if Lane comes here and say coaches 7 years and wins an NC or 2, I am good with that. In my lifetime here are the Coaches at LSU

Mac (18 years 62-79) I was alive 16 of those. Fired
Stovall (4 years, 80-83)) Fired
Arnsparger (3 years, 84-86) left on his own.
Archer (4 years 87-90) Fired.
Hallman (4 years 91-94) Fired.
DiNardo (5 years 95-99) Fired
Saban (5 years, 2000-2004) left on his own
Miles (11 full years + 4 games into 12th, 2005-2016) fired
O (6 years 2016-2021) fired.
BK (4 years 2022-2025). Fired

So if we look back at the coaches I noted, of the 10, only 3 made it more than 5 years. All were fired save Saban and Arnsparger. Coaches don't last long period.

If Kiffin comes to LSU and lets say coaches at least 7 years, more than anyone in the time period I noted save Mac and Miles, and wins as you say an NC or 2. 100% good with that.
quote:

Kiffin wouldn't have put O on his Tennessee/USC staffs if he was worried about that. Nor is O a threat

O realistically knows he's never getting a marquee HC job again

Agree, and watching Lane all these years, he is one guy similar to Saban who is going to say once I am hired, I will decide who is on my staff, who is not, who is n the support staff and who is not.

I don't think he is going to accept being told he has to keep X, Y and Z. He might interview them and decide himself, but if he does take the LSU job, he is going to hire who he thinks can help him win a NC at LSU.

And other thing, I don't think he has ever done a coaching show anywhere he has been. He doesn't do one at Ole Miss for sure. He may also say Coaching shows are 1960, 1970, 1980, etc. To hell with those.

What about 2003 Nick Saban?

2003 Nick Saban was great, but that was a different era. IT took a coach like Nick Saban to come to LSU and tell everyone to get the hell out his way. Ticket takers, u do your job, Concessions people u do your job, LSU PD, u do ur job, Administrators U do your job, Politicians u do politics, fans u be fans, media u be media and I will coach football.

Then you have LA HS talent that Saban leveraged and got if you look at the top 20 players in Louisiana, he got the top 15 to 18 of those he wanted, which built the championship rosters he had. He supplemented the roster with recruits from TX, AL, FL, MS, TN, etc, etc.

Today, someone with an NIL budget can take a recruit from the SEC footprint and pay them enough to go to play for Oregon in the Pacific NW or Ohio State or Michigan, or USC, etc and the family of those players can fly out on Friday to see the young man play and fly back on Sunday 7 times a year without it impacting their family budget.

In Saban's era, kids from LA or other SEC footprint states were not signing with Oregon, other Big 10 schools or even USC, save perhaps when Peter Carroll was there he could like Saban potentially pull a recruit from the SEC footprint to go play for USC.

Different era

Understandably this is an LSU site and there is massive bias.

But can someone actually explain to me with facts, not emotions, how LSU is superior for Florida?

Outside of a stone age natty, both are about dead even on the stat sheets. (Another reason why cancelling the series is dogshit).

While I'm a Florida fan, I do appreciate LSU and their culture. But to say the coaching job there is head and shoulders above Florida's is something I legitimately cannot follow.

I think Florida since Urban Meyer's last year (2010) will in 2026 be on their 6th coach, Meyer in 2010 then Muschamp, Mac, Mullen, Napier and whoever is coach in 2026. So that is 6 coaches in 17 years.

LSU in that time frame, somewhat more stable Miles as Miles was here in 2010, then, O, Kelly and how is our coach next year so 4 coaches. Now we need to slow down with his next one as Miles 2016 to whoever is coach in 2016 is 4th in 11.

Also note that Miami is once again a player with HS recruiting and NIL and Florida state 2 years ago was 13-0 and if QB does not get hurt in CFP, but Norvell who lived by the portal has died by it last 2 years with bad QB decisions he brought in. U can't win big with bad QB play these days.

LSU with the right coach still can leverage in-state HS talent, which Kelly did not do (We are at our lowest level of LA HS players on this roster that I can remember) and not have 2 big boys like Miami and FSU in state to deal with.

Well I can't disagree, as someone 60 years old, what is going on is all the old Political nepotism, incompetence, and Baton Rouge (State Government and Governor) interfering with LSU football that Louisiana can't shake itself from.

Every know and then, we have to get this types of situations to show why Louisiana and Illinois are the 2 most politically incompetent and corrupt states in the Union.

The creature didn’t die when Dr. Frankenstein perished.

This abomination of an offense has a life of its own. A new coach and major offseason fumigation will be required to fix it

Not saying that is not required, but I think it goes much deeper, we have serious personnel issues on the OL. That is ultimately on Kelly. In hindsight, should have gotten about 3 to 4 Million to play Campbell and Jones, or at least tried. Rather than spend the money on the 2 TE's from OU and Aggie (who does not play here and did not play there) and the 2 WR's (from UK and OU), that money should have been spent on 4 OL who had starts, in addition to the 2 you brought in. Let them all battle it out in spring.

DL can't get pressure with 4 man rush at all.

We can yell coaching all we want, I think the reality is this roster in year 4 of Kelly is not that good top to bottom.

The Tigers will be coming in hot after they rid themselves of the BK cancer. Frank will have them energized & playing loose with nothing to lose.

Meanwhile, this is the kind of game Deboer's struggled with. On paper, bama should roll them, and they could be overconfident & looking ahead to OU.

If you get creamed by a 4-4 ACC team, then anything is on the table.

No, Bama by minimum of 2 TD's. Good day.

I am beginning to wonder where they will be next year.

Yall realize South Carolina should have beaten them, right? And that FSU did?

Context for that game I think matters, Bama had played at UGA, then Vandy, then at Mizzou, then TENN and then at SCAR in a 5 game stretch.

SCAR was in the perfect spot to pull an upset, at Home catching Bama after those 4 games vs. all ranked teams.

LSU is on the road and Bama, as LSU, is coming off a bye week. 10.5 seems about right to me.

Seeing on Tennessee On3 boards and some Twitter smoke that Heupel could be on his way out possibly? Seems like a long shot, but I’m curious if Tennessee realistically thinks something like that could happen? As a reasonable LSU fan, I think Tennessee and LSU probably pretty similar and would be maybe a lateral move. I do think he would do well here though.

Thoughts?

My take the smoke signal is Jimmy Sexton getting that out there, without it ever being traced back as now you have LSU, Florida and Auburn open. So Sexton sees if he can get Heupel a raise, he has gotten TENN back playing well and is 2-2 vs. Bama (their top rival).

Lane is also getting paid if he stays at Ole Miss and now Sexton has 3 schools to leverage more for Lane from Ole Miss (which is where I think he stays).

Coaching searchers are Jimmy Sexton's world.

Right, but they still made a hire late.

So you are worried about the class? Seems like recruits are more willing to play for LSU without BK than whoever the coach is. I know recruits sign early now, but technically signing day is still Feb right?

Now with the early signing period of 15 December, about 85% of signing classes are done on that date.

Ara Parseghian is coming out of retirement for the LSU Job, he was in Baton Rouge looking for a house. Anyone around in the late 1970's remember that?

quote:

Way wrong answer

Garrett Graves pissed off every republican leader in the state. Woodward and Graves were buds. Big buds

Not it, I live in Baton Rouge, Landry as AG ran for Governor and Steve Scalise backed Landry and wanted Graves to be aligned with him n backing Landry. Graves backed Stephen Waguespack who was part of Jindal's administration and then was the leader of the Baton Rouge Chamber of Commerce.. Graves backed him. Scalise was pissed off at him, correct, and he and Landry worked to redraw the Congressional districts to gerrymander Graves district out of existence.

Landry and Scalise worked with Cleo Fields in Baton Rouge to create a 2nd black majority district, (Cleo Fields now holds the 6th District which Graves use to hold) which it seems both Conservative anti Landry factions and some black voter advocacy groups joined together and filed suit. Of course, behind all this it seems was a deal to protect pro Landry GOP and work with Cleo Fields to get enough black members of LA house and Senate to approve it (Fields was looking out for himself) districts that put large numbers of black voters in one district so he could get elected, thus diluting the impact of black voters in other districts.

Landry got sued and this case is before SCOTUS and it looks like the districts Landry drew up are going to be found unconstitutional based on this article. We will know in June of 2026 the outcome. If SCOTUS says the Districts need to be redrawn before 2026 Midterms and directs Landry to call a special session in July or August of 2026 to do so, I will vote Graves back to the House seat he had (I voted for him every time). Then in 2027 I hope he primaries Landry and beats his a...z, politically speaking.

LINK
Garret Graves is GOP and was the Congressman from Baton Rouge who decided not to run for re-election when Landry and Louisiana house and senate put in place the new congressional districts, These districts I do believe are part of this recent SCOTUS case and how the districts get redrawn or if they are to be left alone I honestly do not know.

The only ties Woodard and Graves have are that they both are Catholic High-Baton Rouge Graduates, but about 10 years apart.

And no I did not attend Catholic High in Baton Rouge.

There’s others in the media making hay on the Little Landry blunder.

Good post. LSU fans who are either from Louisiana or went to LSU, or both, obviously look at what Media are saying who are not form here and say who cares. But the reality is Louisiana is 1 of 50 states and all the coaching candidates we are looking at, according to the hot boards, are not from here and have no direct ties to LSU, if this coaching board from 29 October is still the most up to date one.

LINK

So I think we LSU fans have to be honest enough to recognize how this is being viewed outside of Louisiana.

This in my hunch...If Lane Kiffin decides to accept the HC position, I think he brings Coach O with him as DC.

I would think Lane is bringing Pete Golding with him, unless Ole Miss promotes him to HC.
