He manages DL talent really well, he’s spent years learning a 4-2-5/5-1-5 under Dennis Allen and the Saints D have proven success. He was an incredible recruiter in college, 1 year all 4 of his DL got drafted from NC State. He’s young, full of energy, and I know y’all hate hearing this- but Coach O can trust him.

Its been said that he already turned us down earlier...

what is the truth.

I’ve also heard that Nielson didn’t check a certain box. So now that we went all in on the guy that checked that box and left us at the alter let O go get who he wants.

From listening to LSU’s Verge this morning on 104.5, get the sense that O’s box is expanding.

Ok somebody tell me what's so great about Ryan Nielsen please.

Everyday this week that we don’t hire a DC, points in the direction of Ryan Nielsen.

Ryan Nielsen might be the best DL coach in the country.

He coaches up and developed players into stars.

Combine that with the secondary we have year in and year out, and you have exactly what it takes to slow down and stop modern offenses.

His DLs are dominate against the run and dominate pressuring and sacking QBs

He knows how to recruit.

All we need is a good LB coach.

I’ll take Ryan right now.

So what you're saying is there was only ONE qualified Black DC that can lead this LSU defense and that ONE left us at the altar, so now it's back to the good ole boy network? Is that the tune you're dancing too?

Wait, what??? Are you suggesting we not hire the best qualified candidate regardless of skin color? Are you suggesting we not let the HC make his own decision?
FWIW, Freeman was my favorite candidate, first and foremost, regardless of skin color. But I think you let the HC hires who he wants, bc God knows he’ll get fired for losing regardless of what skin color his DC is.

I think that he is insinuating that Coach o is being pressured to hire a black coach.

Not suggesting that at all. That should have been the goal from the beginning. It was stupid to put all the eggs in one fricking basket if you were going to do the dance. If you gonna have a damn party, invite more than one guest. Very simple.

So, if Freeman was the first choice and Nielsen was the second choice, how would the situation look any different?

A few of our "insiders" have outright said this was the case.

Well, I seriously doubt that is the case.

The top candidate in the country just happens to be black and the likely second choices are nearly all white.

So, sounds like BS.

I see what your saying, but Bama defensive coordinators tend to become HCs faster than others.

Moscona said it on one of his morning scones he does on Facebook. Said O was “encouraged” to find a minority candidate.

It's sad that this nonsense hits seemingly every aspect of our society, and certainly sports, now. It's not fair to Freeman, Raymond, or anyone else. We have absolutely regressed in terms of race relations over the past ten years.

You’re right, I shouldn’t have used the expression “do the dance” bc it wasn’t a dance, they did indeed go all in on Freeman. And I think O does a good job of hiring regardless of race. He hired Tommy Robinson as RB coach, then replaced him with Kevin Faulk as RB coach. He’s retained Mickey Joseph although some question how much actual on field coaching he does. He loves Raymond, and he tried to hire Bo Davis as his DL coach until it appears the SEC put a nix on it.I don’t have problem bringing more successful black coaches in to interview for the DC spot. But at the end of the day if Nielson is who he wants I think you gotta let him make that call and not have reservations about it because Nielson was born white.

What makes you think that Saban wants either one especially Muschamp?

Well since Freeman left him at the altar, and he only have his second choice left, then it's the same because he's putting all his eggs in the Nielsen basket. He should have more damn choices. So if he is using that logic, then he's an idiot and will get what he deserves, ala Bo Pelini.
