Hannigriff - Barry Odom not currently on LSU’s radar” , some college and NFL coaches are.

Hannigriff at noon Monday, suggested that LSU’s DC search may take a few weeks, both college and NFL coaches are on the list, that it’s not a bad thing to wait a little longer.
Hester noted he prefers a current DC Coach over a head coach for LSU’s next DC.

Well there are only two college teams left.
Nielsen does make some sense though as he has been rumored for awhile.

Interesting! Could Ohio St’s DC be their target?

That changes quickly if Golding follows Sark to Texas. It would first mean that Ash is then in the wind and he’s a strong candidate who won’t stay unemployed long. Secondly, you are suddenly competing in the same market as Bama coming off a title appearance and possible win.

If Golding leaves Bama it’s only bc Saban already has Muschamp or Pruitt lined up!
And I’ve said it before- I don’t think we are in the same hunt for candidates as Bama is, which I think is a good thing.

Ryan Nielson would be only a little better than Corey Raymond

This coaching hire has more moving parts than a stripper doing a pole dance on Bourbon St.

Ok somebody tell me what's so great about Ryan Nielsen please.

He manages DL talent really well, he’s spent years learning a 4-2-5/5-1-5 under Dennis Allen and the Saints D have proven success. He was an incredible recruiter in college, 1 year all 4 of his DL got drafted from NC State. He’s young, full of energy, and I know y’all hate hearing this- but Coach O can trust him.

Can you fill me in on why Muschamp would be a good hire for Gumpland but not for us?
Posted on 1/11/21 at 1:43 pm to Andychapman13
So what's O going to do since this guy is a DL coach at heart?

He’s worked for Saban before, he knows his place with Saban(I think Muschamp and O’s egos would clash), and I think we need more originality with a DC, meaning they have to be the X’s and O’s guy. With Saban he can simply run the D that Saban already knows he wants.

WHy would we want Golding anyway? Alabama’s defense is not anything special and he runs a 3-4. O is not leaving the 4-3/4-2-5.

Wait. All 4 were his recruits? You know he has the strong NFL recruiting pitch now.
I don't have time to look right now---was he calling the plays at NC State?

There’s plenty of young up and coming college coaches to choose from. There’s no need to go and get an nfl position coach who’s never called plays before. They’ve been knowing they were going to replace Pelini for 2+ months now. The fact that we’re still waiting gives one a feeling more of incompetence rather than them interviewing and vetting as many candidates as possible.

I know we weren’t on offense, but defense could be different.
If Pruitt is forced out at UT because of the findings of a recruiting investigation, the SEC isn’t going to let Bama or anyone else hire him right after.

He got there in 2013 and they were drafted in ‘16, you do the math. He was not calling the plays, he was the DL coach, nominated for Broyles in 15 and 16, before the Saints stole him away.
He has not called plays before, but I feel most of y’all are looking for a unicorn. Considering all that brings to the table he’s my top guy.
Now please argue against him so I can at least understand why he’s such a turn off to some.
