Additional candidates sources tell FootballScoop that are being vetted or having conversations with Mississippi State include Jacksonville State head coach Rich Rodriguez, UNLV's Barry Odom and Oklahoma offensive coordinator Jeff Lebby, who has previous ties in the Magnolia State from his stint as Ole Miss's offensive coordinator under Lane Kiffin.

He had Coastal Carolina rolling prior to Liberty where he is currently undefeated.
Not a bad hire if they can get him.

Odom would be an elite hire

Any of these guys would be great for that program, but Chadwell would be exciting

Nothing is real anymore but I thought he already told us no. He's making $3mm at Liberty. Come to the grind that is the SEC for $4.5-$5? My understanding is that he is probably a better fit at Liberty, a Christian university.

Would be a great fit and would be fun.

He's making more than that.

Stash Chadwell away at state for when bk retires.

He’d be a good choice. State has to do things differently to be successful and his offense fits the criteria.

I was really hoping we’d hire him but apparently we’re too poor to play the game.

Miss State to get Chadwell would be a great hire.
If I am Chadwell, I'm not sure I want to coach Miss State. The upside is a grind that struggles to reach the top.

A Mississippi St team running that offense could win 6-8 games a year. And on a good year make more noise. A good online and a group of solid running backs may be a good offense for Miss State

Liberty plays in a defunct conference that is part of a system that will increasingly be irrelevant

If we are stashing I want a guy like Lance Leipold. What he has done at Kansas is wild

State paid an unproven band-aid hire $3 million a year. I don’t think you are as poor as you think you are.

We were paying Leach close to 6m before he passed. I think we could get there or a little higher for Chadwell.

Exactly. People are acting like Chadwell would not come to Starkville because it's mid to lower tier football school in the SEC. If he has 3 good years at State he'll be able to pick his blueblood school. It's called a springboard people.

Totally agree. The salaries are ridiculous. The whole thing has become a money making machine. It’s kinda sick what it’s turned into if we are being honest

so your solution to not being poor is saving 3million on your coaching hire to have a losing season?
WTF??
like it or not, this is big business...big business pays its CEOs lots of money, get over it.
if State passes on Chadwell due to money...well you are fricking retarded and deserve to not have a winning season for the next 2 decades.
chadwell is a stud and will be hard to defend as he runs a unique offense that takes time to prepare for and is really hard to due on a weeks notice.
