I was told on Thursday of last week that Chadwell's agent had told MSU no.

Mississippi State seems like such a dead end job for a guy like him. He is a good coach but its almost impossible to win at MSU.

Impossible to win?? There are only two SEC teams with current longer bowl appearance streaks than MSU. Ohio State’s current bowl streak is 3 less than MSU’s. .

MSU was the first team to be #1 in the championship playoff poll. With what everyone called a tight end at quarterback.
And this was done in the toughest division of the toughest conference in NCAA football during that time.

“But but but Dan Mullen!” Mullen went to a team that was supposed to be leaps and bounds better in every way for him, in an easier division, and failed. “Oh my gah!! Look at what he did at MSU!! He will be coaching in the championship game, at very latest, year 3!!!”

Not sure Mullen failed at UF. They cut the cord mighty quick on him. He finished in the top 10 his first 2 years and won the East year 3. Had one bad year and they cut bait. Looking at recent history, I think UF may have issues within their football program. If it makes you feel better, he's a genuine candidate at MSU again. So hopefully you don't hire a coach you deem a failure.

The bowl streak is fine except that it includes one 5-7 year where there simply weren't enough 6 win teams and the covid year where you won like 3 games.

I guess it depends on perspective and timing.

State is one of the few SEC schools that has a rational fan base and Low expectations. If you are a good game day coach and can develop players, you can make great money and look good simply by averaging 7 wins a year. Then take a step up or be on a position for State to have to pay Top 15 salary to keep you.

How many schools offer that?

Because he completely stopped recruiting and refused to fire any of his terrible staff and coordinators. Was trending in the wrong direction too.

Had some all time talent on offense, as you mentioned won the east, but somehow also finished that year 8-4. If Georgia didn't have Bama in their regular season schedule, they probably would've won the east again that year.

His time there wasn't a complete and total failure. Two top 10 finishes and NY6 wins in his first two years and a SEC East win one year is definitely successful in many regards.

I would say he did fail because despite his early success, he failed to capitalize on it at all to push the program in the right direction, and in fact was quickly trending in the wrong direction by the time he was fired. He even has said that he didn't think he could dig Florida out of the hole they were in, it was time for a fresh start for the program and Mullen when it was all said and done.

He was fired. He failed in their eyes.

Highly unlikely. Wouldn’t be a terrible thing. Cause we know he has a dud year built into him every few years.

To make it clear… I didn’t say he failed at MSU. He didn’t. He was offered more money to stay. That’s not failing. Florida said he failed.

And the rules and regs were the same for everyone else. No special treatment. Still stands.

Striklin fixed him up with a $12mm buyout. Made quitting easy, I guess.

Nothing is real anymore but I thought he already told us no. He's making $3mm at Liberty. Come to the grind that is the SEC for $4.5-$5? My understanding is that he is probably a better fit at Liberty, a Christian university.

He never said that. He just gave some coachspeak statement about loving Liberty building something here , blah, blah, blah. We can pay him between 6-7 M or more. He ain't the po' ol' Mittippi State anymore. There is mutual interest. Does it get done? We'll see

Why isn't Texas A&M AD not want Chadwell? Is it he isn't a big-name hire?

No telling if Bjork does or doesn’t. He isn’t really talking with the media about these things. Only reason Traylor is known is because he is putting his name out there.

Fully understand that but no one can articulate why he is worth that. Maybe he is. Prove it! If he beats NM State Dec 1 I might start to believe. No way, no how does he have an SEC resume to pay him that much.

He's not. He's an Ole Miss fan trying to make us look bad like no one wants our job. Many of them do this. They are behind all this Joe Judge bs that is never going to happen. I'm of a firm belief it will be Chadwell, Odom, Lebby, and maybe Sumrall not necessarily in that order. I'm pretty certain it won't be Fritz, Leipold, or Kleiman. I'm about 100% certain it won't be Tom Herman. I am 100% certain it won't be Joe Judge, so you Rebs can stop spewing that bull. Of course, they don't believe it either. They just do it to act like we are swinging and missing, and nobody wants our job.
