I admire your efforts but you're trying to reason with a room full of low IQ dolts.

I’m an LSU fan but they need to develop their own coaches bro. We only even got the 19 Natty because of a coach the Saints developed. Develop our own coaches or find a different cupboard to raid.

While true for Brady, Neilsen was more from the Orgeron coaching tree than the Saints/Payton coaching tree

So glad the Saints lost. Will never pull for them again. Screw them.

Sucks that we don’t have a DC, but the timeframe is still not relevant.

Time had nothing to do with losing the candidates so far, and won’t factor into the eventual hire.

“I think Ed O would do better to not tell everyone when a candidate has become the primary target. That way if they don’t come, he can sort of play it off.”

Translates to: you can go, but we’re suing for breach of contract/you gonna pay. Sean Payton doesn’t own the man. If he wasn’t able to go, why bother giving him a raise?

If your boss blocked a huge raise and promotion to another company

How good of a job would you do if he didn’t try and match it or at least give you a raise?

If Nielsen wouldn't have accepted the new offer, then he would've been bought out. The Saints did this because they hadn't had an opportunity to negotiate yet. They can block him in the short term to force him to hear their new offer.

which makes LSU look even worse trying to get their media guys to tweet out it was just the saints not letting him go. Any non idiot should be able to see what happened here.

and you would sign a 3 year extension with said boss? You don't promote and extend over a pissing match. The saints wanted to keep him and made their pitch.

Ryan had two offers on the table, he chose the one he wanted, its that simple.

One organization can't keep its mouth shut and leaks its intentions to anyone that will listen publicly. The other keeps things close to the vest, makes its strong offer, and retains its guy.

pretend you own a business.

Someone makes a strong offer for one of your best employees. Do you give him a hug and say good luck or do you make a strong arse counter offer to keep him?

are the saints supposed to be ok with weakening their staff to help O cause....geaux tigers?

This is all Nielsen’s fault...obviously both teams are going to try to get him...but once he commmitted to LSU u have to stick to it

Umm.. what? So if you agree to a new job, but your current employer comes back and offers you not only a raise but a promotion, you are wrong to take it?

Some of you are ridiculous.

Exactly how I see it.
This is how anyone who doesn't have bias sees it. They can't literally force him to continue coaching for the Saints. Ultimately it's up to him. Now, there are ramifications if he does leave, but those were not serious enough to prevent him from leaving if he really wanted to.

seems O keeps getting fooled by agreements in word....Lane, Freeman, and now Nielsen. Is that a them or LSU issue?

Damn. This is a clusterfrick and a clown show. And Scott Woodward shares a big part of the blame here.
