Ryan Nielsen will get a new 3-year contract and the added title of assistant head coach with the Saints, per source.
Dan Campbell had the title of asst. head coach before leaving for the Lions. So Nielsen will take on some of the leadership duties associated with that role.

Citing language in his contract, Sean Payton declined to release him (this isn't the 1st time). LSU & Nielsen attorneys objected.
In the end, as @MikeTriplett reports, Nielsen gets a new deal with Saints

Bingo. Ryan Nielsen isn't staying in NOLA because he got a raise and a title.
That was done to pacify him after the organization blocked his move to LSU.
The real question is WHY would they block that move?
Petty or not, there are protocols involved in pursuing coaches.

Must've got a nice raise and some incentive from New Orleans. Which I is what I told you dumbasses last night to stop saying this is a promotion for him to go here. He might not see it that way and he might have a position as DC if Allen leaves. Obviously he doesn't see it as a promotion because that pot just got sweetened at NO.
