I agree with banning fake slide. Defense is trained to "not hit" when QB starts the slide. Still a nice play though!

Changed the game, your backyard football play changed the game. If someone would have nailed you on that play this guy would have been crying he was trying to slide.

What about acting like your running out of bounds. But, you fake it for 10 more yards.

Good play by him. I also hope he decides to play in his bowl and gets absolutely drilled by a middle linebacker while sliding.

Once you decide to make it a non contact, contact sport, you have to create rules in response to previous rules.

Why did they make this non-reviewable? Seems like a QB that's cutting and juking can be whistled down due to a phantom fake slide, without review. Would hate to be the team to get hosed by this. Just make it reviewable, jeez.

So how do they know if someone tripped or made a juke vs a fake kneel?

Can't wait to have future games decided by inept refs making judgment calls on whether every subtle motion a QB makes while running constitutes a "fake slide". I can definitely see a QB slowing down to wait for a block or doing a stutter step getting penalized because refs can't tell the difference.

Obvious to see he's a douchebag. He should get leveled the next time he legit slides just to teach his punk arse a lesson.

I just kind of started slowing down and pulling up and getting ready to slide and I just kind of saw their body language and they just pulled up as well." Interestingly Wake Forest Coach Dave Clawson didn't have the melt a lot of posters on this site had, saying, "“He started his slide and our kids stopped playing. I don’t think he did it intentionally, but if he did he’s brilliant." So apparently the opposing coach thought it was brilliant.

The good thing about the rule is that it is not review able so defenses can't cry “he tried to slide“ if refs don't see it.

So, he's proud there is now a "written rule" for a bush league maneuver in his honor. Why is he proud of causing this to have to be done? Shame on him.
