sure thing bub.
Think about it though. this is just the gate worker looking at it to let you board. they aren't going to question if the document you have is real. You think they are experts in what a covid test looks like? You could probably make one up that doesn't look like anyone that's ever been made. You think they are going to call the testing site to verify the test you just showed them is legit? This is just a normal human being at the gate, not the secret service.

Looks like most of the resorts will be able to provide testing- and if they dont there are a ton of mobile labs that will come to you. Costs will be around $60 bucks so its a big money grab. If the mexicans can make money at it, it will be widely available. They accept the rapid tests so results will be available minutes after the test. This isnt that big of a deal it seems.

If you think about it, I wouldn't doubt this was discussed for awhile between the Mexican and American governments. Help the resorts get some sort of rapid testing, help them make money on it, and then require it. Its a win for the resorts and a win for the governments. Loser here is the American tourist.
I'm curious if the resorts will let you stay there with Covid and how that would work out?

WINNER!!! We are going to Aruba in Feb. I just found out you are required to buy a COVID "insurance policy" when you arrive on the island. It doesn't matter that you have health insurance. This policy, ALLEGEDLY, will cover your health care (after your personal insurance I am sure) and $100 a day for lodging if you contract COVID and have to stay longer than your original trip. GOOD LUCK collecting on this I am sure but they get you at Customs when you arrive and buying it isn't optional.

Ya we are going to Cabo in June, I have this all worked out and more importantly, that things haven’t gotten more strict

You do realize that your health insurance coverage in another country is limited at best, right? Goddamn we have some stupid people in this country.

Had a little hope for international travel this year, but can't risk getting stuck somewhere for an extra 1-2 weeks with work and 2 young kids at home. Looks like we'll be sticking to knocking off national parks and other US destinations again this year....

It’s $10 a day and you have to purchase before you are cleared to fly.

Awe, your panties are in a bunch.
You already found the below out.
Which makes this line in your post stupid.
You don't have worldwide health coverage.

In any event, since US domestic health insurance provides little coverage in Aruba, and the relatively low cost of travel insurance for Aruba, it is important for international travelers to buy good Covid travel insurance for visiting Aruba.

This new policy has completely fricked me. I am furious. I am slated to go to the Maldives Jan 24 - Jan 30. The new requirement goes into effect Jan 26. So I will have to be tested before I return. The accommodations are nonrefundable at this point. The airlines will not offer refunds based on the new policy either, according to what I have read. Credit only. So my options are just forfeiting tens of thousands or going and potentially incurring tens of thousands more if I have to quarantine in the expensive Maldives for some unknown period.

In that situation, I would go. You only live once.

My wife and I have been planning our 10 year anniversary to Jamaica in March for almost a year. This news has really screwed those plans up. Luckily I have another week to get a refund for our resort or reschedule it. I almost bought our plane tickets over the weekend but held off. Thank goodness for that. We talked about it and we’re both pissed but there isn’t a whole lot you can do about it. My wife just wants to go somewhere warm. I told her that’s easy, the only warm place is South Florida. I think she’s going to start looking there but, I honestly see us saving our money and taking a shorter trip somewhere else.

What is the penalty for not having a covid test done before arriving back? Has that been answered? Or I'm taking it the airline just won't let you on the flight.
In your case, guessing you have to connect on your way back from the maldives. Can you see if the connecting airport back has a rapid covid test?

Contact your resort and see what antigen testing kits they have access to and/or what the island offers.
As someone said above, you go regardless and figure it out. Have fun!

You cannot show a vaccine because the COVID vaccine is not meant to prevent you from getting the virus. It is meant to lessen the symptoms and not kill people. You can still get the virus and spread it. This is why I have NO desire to get the vaccine since I have had COVID and it was nothing, but.
The vaccine produces the same antibodies as the virus itself.

So I can still drive into the US with no issues but if I fly I need a test. Makes sense.
No, you can still fly into the US in a private jet with no test necessary. It's only on commercial airliners that you need to test.
But actually, you likely can't drive into the US, because both the Canadian and Mexican borders are closed to most traffic.

Heading to Mexico on 2/2. Screw it. I'll let the board know how it works out.
