These resorts don’t like this either. They will provide tests so if you are traveling soon, just look into it, you won’t be left high and dry. Also, let’s say you test positive, resorts have a plan for that too. Most will have a dedicated quarantine block of rooms with room service at a discounted rate.

If that still worries you, why were you traveling in the first place? Don’t stress just travel explore have fun and be safe.

Honeymoon going to get canceled this year. We were about to go to Cancún and that’s off the table. Policy is nuts.

In any event, since US domestic health insurance provides little coverage in Aruba, and the relatively low cost of travel insurance for Aruba, it is important for international travelers to buy good Covid travel insurance for visiting Aruba.

Wow. You found a random quote regarding health insurance and assume it applies to me? GFY.

No, you can still fly into the US in a private jet with no test necessary. It's only on commercial airliners that you need to test.

I get that you're kidding, but tests are required on private flights too.

This order applies to all flights, including private flights and general aviation aircraft (charter flights). Passengers traveling by air into the US are required to have proof of testing regardless of flight type.

Also from the CDC regarding private flights:

quote:

Do airlines and operators of private flights or general aviation aircraft need to keep copies of passenger test results? No, passengers must show a copy of their test results to airline employees or the aircraft operator before boarding, but the airline or aircraft operator does not need to retain copies of test results.

Sounds like the operator of the charter or owner of the plane just keeps a log that the passengers presented documentation stating they tested negative.

If you have the means...

Thousands upon thousands of Intra-US flights with no need for covid test proof a day vs Hundreds of international flights...

We got it this time, ladies and gentlemen, we will stop the spread with this governmental policy!

Don’t cancel just yet.

Just heard on the news that resorts all over Mexico were ready for this and will be offering free rapid tests (which meet the government’s dumb arse criteria).

Call your resort and if for some reason they don’t offer the test, try to find a few rapid tests stateside and bring them with you. If you happen to test positive, test yourself again until you get a negative. The rapid tests aren’t very accurate, so you’ve got decent odds.

Only problem with this is that of you test positive initially you’re going to have to isolate and ruin a day or days of your vacation. I’d probably just wait until the last day and roll the dice.

Crap, you're right. I'm thinking of point of care tests that you can administer yourself (is that a thing with COVID testing?).

Every resort in Mexico/Caribbean with a large US presence will have an employee who for $20 will help you take the test or administer the test from inside a hermetically sealed chamber. Just to make sure it’s done correctly.

What does inside a hermetically sealed chamber mean? If you’re talking tipping worker to get a document I would be in. I would pay little extra for a fake negative test. Just to put wife’s mind at ease about us going. I’m sure a market will develop for that. And if so I will be in that market.

I was getting the vaccine just so I could travel home. If the vaccine isn't good enough, then what's the point?

The Covid vaccine does not prevent you from getting Covid or being contagious with Covid. It simply prepares your body so that if/when you do get it, you won’t get really sick.

That is why even if you have had the vaccine, a negative test is still required.

As you might imagine, it's alive and well. You'll be able to "test negative" in Mexico.

It’s alive and well already? You can confirm this? Would love more details if so bc trying to not cancel this trip. Still have 13 days to do so and I will put it off until very last day. Any info is appreciated.

I can't confirm anything, but check this. Here's a place I went to a couple years ago. El Dorado Royale. A free 14 day quarantine if needed? Likely they'll have a printing press of negative test results.

Those all inclusive resorts? If so, it's going to probably require a few things like only taking their transportation to/from the airport and not leaving the property during your stay.

Or they've run the math and think the risk reward works in their favor enough to keep people from canceling but that seems a bit much.

Anyone check the terms?
