you already know i have an android phone.

People getting worked up about what phone people own always makes me laugh. Who cares, we all benefit from multiple companies and OSes being available. We need a strong Apple to push Android, we need a strong Android to push Apple forward a few years later.
Green bubbles and Blue Bubbles won't mean much next year when they adopt RCS, they saw the writing on the wall that the EU was eventually going to force it.

not if it freezes up and doesnt work. Or just fails to let your calls/text go through until you restart the phone.
I have had samsung devices and while good (they were cheaper at the time but now just as much as apple) they had a lot of issues. Calls would drop, phone would have to be reset for calls/text to go through, apps would crash, phone would get hot, samsung buds would stop working or sound go quiet with samsung phone & tablet. software update made camera pictures out of focus

Well, this is almost exactly the point. We need a strong Apple and a strong Google to push each other, and right now, they both are. That's why neither has a monopoly. But the EU stepping in and weakening Apple or Google, for that matter, is bullshite. Government bureaucrats deciding which cable adapters companies should use is crazy. They could have just as easily said Android has to adopt Apple's lightning adapter. (Personally, I'm glad Apple is going to all C adapters), but that's not the point. The principle is the same. Let the market decide. Same thing with forcing RCS on Apple. The market should make those decisions.
Basically, they are weakening Apple to the benefit of Google. If the EU cracks down on data mining by Google, it will undermine Google. The consumer has a choice. Don't want your whole life sold to the highest bidder, go with Apple. Don't care? stick with Google.
It's like forcing Ferrari to make four-cylinder engines to make some environmental whackos happy. It's a slippery slope when you let the government tell private companies what they can and cannot do in the absence of a true monopoly.

Imagine being upset because Apple has to integrate an open messaging standard that the rest of the world uses. Outside of the US, Android is king.
Apple is also free to not implement the change, or only implement it in EU.

I'm going on 4 years now with my 1plus8t and have zero problems.
I can't imagine what I'm missing since everything I need the phone does and it's nice and fast.
I think this is the longest I've ever kept the same phone and seriously going to consider another 1plus if and when this one ever stops working.

Except USB is an open standard and Apple's shite is proprietary. So no, it could not have just as easily gone that way.
So what really happened is they made everyone adopt the ubiquitous and superior open standard, but in your tiny brain they chose Google/Android as the winner and Apple had to bow down. I actually don't even think Google has any say so as to what ports manufacturers put in their phones. It just happens that every manufacturer (save the lone a-hole) made the choice that was good for consumers.

Used to work at an apple store in college, I went to android in 2013 and never looked back.
Apple really put me off when they introduced the MacBook Airs. Making it impossible to upgrade RAM was a really tough sell. Now everything's going that way.
Maybe they DO still innovate

I really love apple fans...
" How can you use an android. You know Google sells all your info right?"
*Checks Gmail on iPhone
*Uses Google search on iPhone
*Uses Google maps on iPhone
*Watches videos on youtube
I mean, apple quite literally sells your info to Google to the tune of 15 billion a year to make Google the default search on Safari and no one seems to care. But buy an android and they all start looking out for big brother.
I think everyone should listen to Edward Snowden, regardless of what phone you have, nothing is private on it. So don't do anything you don't want tracked on a mobile device

It’s not like USBC fixes a ton, I still have a frick ton of different USB C cables that are better for certain functions like data vs power. Except now I got to remember which one is which by random appearance features or colors instead of cable ends.

Well, your tiny brain is totally missing the point. Leftist government bureaucrats shouldn't be micro-dictating private companies on how they design their products.

Apple ecosystem is pretty hard to beat. Might not have the best individual devices but the ecosystem makes up for it.
That said nothing against android. Have had my fair share of galaxy’s and they were fine.

Apple, does a lot to keep things integrated, but that's a luxury they have with control over the hardware/OS. Honestly, I'm a little amazed that they have as much marketshare as they do.
That said, I'm not a fan of all of their products. I bought some Airpod Pros 2 and, while they sound good, they don't stay in my ears at anything more than a walking pace. Doing yardwork or going for a run? Forget about it. Some cheap earbuds from amazon sound as good and don't fall out. Plus, they are more compliant with different bluetooth standards.
Same for the Apple TV 4k. Initially, I liked it. Then, I tried turning on Dolby Vision and it was a complete letdown. Bought new cables, thinking the HDMI cables weren't up to snuff, and it made no difference. Bought a cheap Chromecast 4k and it works perfectly. Much better picture out of the box with Dolby Vision. No hiccups. Just works.
I don't have any Macs, but my Dad has one and I find it to be overpriced for what it is. I guess if I was a content creator I'd be all into it, but for regular tasks it's no better of a computer than anything you can slap together yourself for half the price.
Overall, I'm a fan of the iphones. I think they work well and operate rather seamlessly with other iphones. WYSIWYG. You pretty much know if there's an app on the store it's going to work great and it will look and function exactly as you'd expect. The hardware of the iphones is top notch, but that's what you expect for the price.
IMO, the ecosystem is overhyped. I do see the value for casual users that just want all of their devices tied together though. That being said, it comes at a premium.

quote:I'm not going to be a big Google corporate defender, but this is dumb. I really only speak for the Pixel phones in endorsing Android, but Google has offered the ability to dial in security settings for years now. I've spoken to a few friends inside the company and they said GDPR regulations out of Europe really put the fear of god in them. It seems clear to me that non-Google apps like Instagram are WAY more intrusive.
You really believe that? Google makes its billions off of giving its software away to the hoi polloi in exchange for extreme data mining. You may be the only person in the world who ever tries to turn some of it off and is gullible enough to believe Google.
YouTube Music is superior to all other music services.
AirPods suck and have a terrible ergonomic design. Speaking of that, for all the jerking off of Jony Ive over the years, I think it's total bullshite. Go back and look at an iPhone 1 - the functional design is TERRIBLE. It's curved and slippery and not deep enough to get a good grip. Then was it the 3 or the 4 they introduced those ugly little "almost square" prisms? I don't really care what phones look like, but I notice a lot of self-congratulatory, self-fulfilling talk from the Apple side.
Although it appears it's gone for good, the rear fingerprint sensor on some Pixels is the greatest feature of any kind on any product that ever existed.
Google Photos is superior. Most Pixel cameras are superior. etc.
I fully admit the MacBooks look awesome. I just despise laptops and never use them (ditto tablets) so I don't have a need for the integration - which I fully recognize. Actually, my favorite Apple product at present is the iPads that have cell connection so you always have internet. It's annoying Android tablets don't have that.
I also think the lack of app drawer is insane. iOS seemingly forces you to have endless left/right pages of every single app you have on the device.
