This is why soccer will never take off in this country.

Best team in the history of US soccer and you’re getting DOGWALKED by old ahh Belgium. Pulisic is really the face of your team? Bro disappears every time we need him to show up. No leadership. Build around BIG FLO and sign a defense in the transfer portal. Mexico put up the fight of a lifetime on home soil. US just roll over and let some fricking waffle eaters blow them out. SAD.

How many soccer fields you see in the ghetto (the same place our best football and basketball player come from)? Or do you see kids playing in thr street if they don’t have a field because they love the game so much? At least in my area the high school soccer state champs are the private mostly white schools yet for basketball and football the public mostly black schools win it every year

Black “American” kids raised in London or Germany ain’t cutting it

They shrink from the big moment every time they have this opportunity. It’s who we are at this point.

But realistically we’re a mediocre team who rode the wave of momentum of the home field & playing against a weak group to get this far.

We’re a LONG way from being among the worlds best

Whatever strides the US took in gaining more traction with potential fans here has been obliterated. The non-soccer fandom was willing to at least pay attention and the US has looked scared and weak.

US soccer fandom will remain the domain of the nerds in the student section who get to the football/basketball games 3 hours early to sit on the front row and the dweebs who don’t actually like sports but are “fans” because they don’t want to conform with the mainstream society.

Almost like soccer is big in their culture and some of their best athletes gravitate towards it. Not so much in the US

Well Black Americans don’t hold interest in soccer generally, and I doubt that ever changes unless something drastic happens

US needs two things to happen for this game to truly catch traction here:

1. MLS to partner with some huge money types to start making legitimate plays to bring the top players in the world in their prime to play here. Americans fans aren't going to get passionate about a league of third-rate domestic talent and international stars on their retirement tours.

2 CONCACAF to be dissolved and folded into either UEFA (preferably) or CONMEBOL. US fans are never going to take the sport seriously when we spend most of our international time playing countries that are fly specks compared to us.

Our own citizens who have ancestry in those places don't pull for the US. They'd rather play for the shithole country they fled.
