Problem with US soccer is the same problem you have in most of US sports - those whose families can afford soccer camps etc make the team not necessarily the best. And there’s always an obsession to have a face of the team that fits a commercial mold vs the best player. Landon Donovan sucked and now we have the updated version of him in Pulsic.

That’s a good point. If football didn’t exist here and a lot of our best athletes focused heavily on soccer. We could probably be a force.

The Americans are upper middle class former travel ball / pay academy kids. I’m sure they put in work, but kinda soft at the end of the day.

Until we field a team with zero MLS players we will never be serious. We are getting closer to that though.

Soccer will never take off here because it’s viewed as a sissy sport due to the players rolling around on the ground like they are about to die every time they get touched

These are kids that don't like to tackle, get hit, and bring it. Soccer needs to put two balls in play at a time.

They're also not black, so the notion that we need more blacks because black is better at soccer is bullshite. We need more athletes in general to get into soccer.

There are a shitload of really good white athletes in this country. Nobody wants to play soccer here and I really don’t see the big deal about it either. We have our own sports that we care way more about.

What the frick are hood black kids going to do lmao? Soccer is a skill based sport, it's not a brute athleticism contest. Furthermore, you need to be tactically smart and disciplined to actually win anything. Hence why the African teams keep shitting the bed.
I can't believe we're in 2026 and Americans still think that they suck at soccer because some black kid from the hood is playing RB in football instead of kicking a soccer ball. The two sports have literally zero carryover.
