Being completely honest here, it sounded like she pronounced it the same as they did or so close it is very hard to tell a difference. Also it sounded like she pronounced like I've heard pretty much every one pronounce it. Maybe I need to get me hearing checked.

I don’t know that it’s racist as much as xenophobic. It’s clearly meant to mark him as an outsider or different. I don’t necessarily see the racism aspect of it though.

One would be correct about that. I would say there is a difference in calling someone weird for their name, which they have no control over, vs their actions which they do. At any rate, neither is racist.

My female Indian friend says it has more than one pronunciation. There is also a video of Kamala saying her own name differently in the past.

In this case, the difference is poppycock. The congresswoman wasn’t making a deal of the pronounciation, she was trying to convey a point and they completely shut her down over a nuance. Screw these people.

The main thing is she put the emphasis on the first syllable and they are demanding she emphasize the second.
