let him go back to the drawing board and figure some things out. He either will or he wont.

This is the key. Does he look at himself in the mirror and realize that the performance yesterday (and general lack of toughness, fire, and strength that has become an issue) are unacceptable? Or does he really believe it’s just a “fine line” between yesterday and being on top?

He probably wont fire Grubb, but he and Grubb need to get in the lab and figure some shite out. First thing is painfully obvious that we need to hire the best OLine coach in the country (whoever that is). And probably need a new running backs coach too.

And there are probably several other changes needed if he is serious about being elite at Alabama. I dont know what all of those changes are. But DeBoer makes $10mil/year to figure it out. So we better see some serious changes and tough decisions being made if DeBoer is going to grow as a coach.
Fire DeBoer, Hire Golding!!

Joking, but definitely ironic if Golding ends up as a better Head Coach than the HC at Bama.

He made a huge mistake overlooking Cignetti for DeBoer 2 years ago and it hit him in the face today.

Cignetti was hired at Indiana on November 30, 2023. So he was already off the market by the time Saban retired.

Schumann is in kirbys shadow.

Kirby was once in Saban’s shadow. Lanning was in Kirby’s once too.

I dont know much about Schumann except he graduated from Alabama and has been in the Saban/Kirby-verse his entire career. If he could come back here and rebuild the standard, I’d be excited.

I don't think y'all caught on to what he was saying

I didnt listen so just reading the quote on here it looks bad.

What do you think he was saying then, reading between the lines?
I really hope he didnt say this.

If he did say this, I really hope he doesnt believe it. Today was a program defining game in the worst kind of way. The only way DeBoer has a chance to succeed at Bama from here forward is if he knows there has to be massive changes to the staff and mentality of the program.

If DeBoer just rolls into this offseason like it’s any other, we will see more results like today.
We are not gonna fire DeBoer this year, so he has a year to make massive changes and try to fix this.

BUT, if we did want to make a change and bring in somebody young, hungry, and tough, I would be intrigued by looking at Glenn Schuman. I wanted him to get a serious look 2 years ago.
quote:

Alabama would not have hired in 2021 or 2022. Additionally, Saban had his last two rosters that really could win a national championship in 2021 and 2022. There was no good time for Saban to retire and none of the problems we have in 2025 are his fault. This staff has had two years to build out their program and it is soft and sloppy but tries hard.

I was being somewhat sarcastic. It is just crazy to think of what Cignetti has done at Indiana in 2 years, and would have been amazing if we could have went from Saban to him.
This is all Nick Saban’s fault. If he had timed his retirement better maybe we would have hired Cignetti 2 years ago, but was already at Indiana by the time we were hiring.

 great comment.

Miami and OSU should be a good game if Beck plays to the best of his abilities.

Yea Miami’s defense should give them fits. OSU could put it all together though like last year though and blownjt wide open. We’ll see.

Undercover op

Definitely not. Just tired of seeing so much fear around here, and feeling hyped that we can “shock the world” on Thursday.
Might be drinking some SEC kool aid. But I just dont believe that the Big 10 has surpassed the SEC like the country is now convinced of.

Michigan beat us 2 years ago, with a very senior team that was their best team of all time. Ohio State won last year, but again was a very senior team.

Obviously Ohio State is a legit program that competes legitimately with the SEC, but they are not as good as last year. And last year the SEC’s champion (UGA) was banged up and playing a very inexperienced QB when they lost to Notre Dame.

But too many in the country are rushing to dismiss the very real grind of the SEC. And nobody has been more tested than Bama. And the team is as healthy it’s been all year.

So let’s just bammer it out with some optimism the next few days and look forward to ending the Hoosier’s dream year, and laugh when the pundits have to admit that the SEC is still the SEC by this weekend.

Zook, McElwain, and Muschamp were all coordinators at big programs as well and they didnt work out either. It’s a crap shoot.

Why does Florida keep hiring G5 coaches?

Because it’s worked for them before (Urban Meyer when Utah was still in a G5 conference) and it still works now if you get the right guy (see Curt Cignetti).

Nobody knows shite and there are no guarantees, so all you can do is interview someone that’s had success and make sure they seem like a good fit and hope for the best.

HOWEVER, is anyone going to argue that our nobody DC isn't outperforming our 10 million a year HC ? The defense has it's shite together. The offense is a clown show. What is DeBoer bringing ?

Id argue that a head coach does more than just be responsible for one side of the ball. DeBoer is the one who brought Wommack to Alabama, so you have to give him credit for the hire.

re: DeBoer = Mark Richt

Richt was a great coach who had them on the verge of multiple championships and set a foundation that Kirby was able to take to the next level. And in the age of parity in the sport, I would be happy with Richt level of consistency for several years.

re: This game is boring

Good, hard hitting defensive battle, with turnovers and blocked kicks. Im entertained.
SECC and 1st quarter last night were frustrating as hell. But the offense finally found some mojo back last night, and a huge part of that is important playmakers getting healthier and making plays.

Had 2 weeks to heal and prep for this game. And basically 2 full weeks again for Indiana. With Ty, Germie, Jam, Hill, and Cuevas having the opportunity to rest/heal even more, this team has the chance to peak again at the right time.

Put Ryan Williams on the bench; he’s a liability at this point. Let a hopefully healthier and more confident Ty air it out to Bernard, Horton, Brooks, Cuevas and others. We beat the Hoosiers and are in it to win the whole thing as much as anybody else. RTR.
