A lot of folks probably pushed it down the priority list as daily needs are staying expensive. Yeah sure less than Biden but that’s a pretty damn low bar.

Everyone realized it’s a moronic idea that’s already been tried and rejected immediately.
They also probably realized that suddenly going apeshit over turning a clock twice a year isn’t a serious problem and just a dumb Internet trend.

If we ever decide to go with just one, Standard Time would be the much better choice. DST would suck hard in the winter.

Too much friction in the Senate on which time to make permanent and a tight calendar before the fall recess stalled it out. And yes, competing interests.

I'm a big proponent of Standard Time
My theory on this is people already hate mornings so they think making mornings shittier won't impact them as much as early dark in the afternoon which times with getting off work and a feeling of vibrancy. It's just hard to conceptualize how shitty mornings would be.

I think Tom Cotton threatened to kill the bill back in July, and then the senate went on another well deserved vacation. And nothing has happened since then. I wish I was joking.

Well, first Dems and Republicans got awfully perplexed when they realized they were about to vote on something that they mostly agreed on, so God forbid.
Then the Democrats saw that Trump was all in support and pushing hard for it, so that immediately put them back in a comfort zone, which at that point would probably have been a unanimous vote against. So then they all pretty much figured it was just a waste of time.

I can tell you parents with children in grade school definitely do not want DST as the standard.
