I’ve come to the painful conclusion that the social, political, and economic cycle is like the weather. It comes in cycles that you cannot control. If it didn’t happen this cycle it would be the next.

Even with the blunders Trump has made it is still nonsense to vote for a Democrat with their modern progressive platform. Even the ones who speak and think moderately vote almost invariably with the party line.

A book called “The Fourth Turning” outlines the social cycle that repeats every 90-100 years. We’ve been in the Roaring 20s and these socialists will almost certainly send us in too a depression. No amount of education or study can instill in a man who grew up watching tv on a couch in the air-conditioning what growing up hungry and without can.

I don't understand swing voters. The parties are so starkly different. How do you go back and forth?

Most people are stupid and are easily swayed. That’s why you see billboards and 30 second commercials.

I've come to that conclusion myself.

Over time, hardship seems to bring out the best in people.

Over time, the best in people overcomes the hardship.

Over time, a period of relative prosperity reigns and people grow soft and comfortable.

Over time, soft and comfortable people squander the prosperity.

And over time, as a result of the squandering, hardship returns.

We're definitely soft and comfortable, which is why—despite having the highest standard of living that the world has ever know—we wallowed in self-pity yesterday over an "affordability crisis" that is mostly completely manufactured.

Could be we are nearing the beginning of hardship returning.

But like you, I am more and more convinced that it is inevitable. It's just the cycle that human nature dictates.

1. There aren't a lot of true swing voters. Far more people will voice their dissatisfaction by just staying home and not voting.

2. Some people aren't very politically sophisticated, but they know how to vote for "not this."

3. Voters have a very limited range of choices in a two-party winner-take-all system where incumbents often run unopposed in primary elections. Many people feel taken for granted and insulted when they're told they must continue vote for Party A even if the candidate is corrupt or has done a terrible job in office because Party B is too bad to vote for under any circumstances.

"Party B stands for [insert culture war issue here]! Therefore you have no choice but to vote for us for the rest of your life, regardless of whether we crash the economy or commit crimes or start pointless wars or do literally anything else! That's democracy, baby!"

Its not that deep Democrats turned out because they hate Trump
Republicans stayed home because the candidates were not great and
Cost of living is to high
Gasoline is expensive
A war in Iran

With the exception of closing the boarder( which is awesome ( Tom Holman should have a job for life he is just that good at it)
He has not done anything else he ran on
Conservative people are tired of the piss poor status quo.

Republicans just stayed home you really believe there are only 26k less Democrats in Louisiana then there are Republicans.
People just refused to hold they're nose and vote.
Texas had 3 million less people vote then in 2024 and Tearico was full of energy and turned out the vote.
But 3 million voter said nah.
When Trump is gone what do they have to run on?

90-100 years is the long cycle

70-80 years What I believe in the Howe Strauss theory
Cycles of spring, summer, fall ,winter
winter is the crisis we're in winter

And “where there is no vision, my people die”,

Our ‘Job’ based, ‘merit paid Capitalism culture puts a very large % of the population in monotonous, spiritually-draining and going nowhere trajectories which are hopeless. All the while watching their ‘successful’ peers - many who bring nothing of worth to the system but simply game it (think Hunter Biden) - wallow in relative affluence. Don’t think for one instant that envy will not breed despair, contempt and ultimate hatred IF society as a whole (think Government) ignores their plight. It is a festering sore and in line with the OP’s premise.

Further, even many of the muh successful live lives of “quiet desperation” as the love in their basic family units succumbs to the cultural job-based ethos.

WHERE is the FREEDOM? WHERE is the HAPPINESS…of the which the Founders pledged their Document to serve?

I have lived a wonderful life and thank Jesus throughout the day. But when I view the society, culture and the real SPIRITUAL fruits therein, it is obvious that we need some extraordinary and revolutionary vision for the current trajectory of spiritual dysfunction and ultimate collapse to be averted.

Maybe AI can help, but I seriously doubt that the current move to a “herding cats” form of government will take us to the “happiness” promised land.

I don’t believe the switch of someone that voted R now and went and voted D is that high. It’s probably the same amount of the bush types that crossed over and voted D as the non bush types.

What most likely happened was the low propensity voters that lean right stayed home due to multiple factors where this admin has straight up done the opposite of the campaign promise and the left had their none voting leans actually show up.

Lots of truth here. Lots of people may have wanted all the violent illegal criminals rounded up, but my not have liked seeing gardeners and roofers and housekeepers who had been here 15 years rounded up first. Lots of people may not have liked the self dealing of the Biden crime family, but then they see the self dealing of the Trump family make the Bidens look like amateurs. Lots of people wanted to see all of the Epstein stuff including names come out, but when the Trump administration fails to do that, they draw their own conclusions about who's being protected.

We are forced to choose between extremes. I am fundamentally pro-life and anti-trans. So that means I have to support a grifter and his family that makes the Biden crime syndicate look like amateurs? I have to support a guy who got us into a war with no end in sight, after vowing to never do that?

And the same is true on the other side. Someone who is adamantly pro-choice has to support a guy who wants to open the floodgates and let a billion people come here illegally? They have to support a guy who supports the sexual mutilation of kids?

That's how you get swing voters. The party that can shift back to the middle usually wins. But both parties historically, when they get the Presidency, Senate, and House, typically overreach and go too far, either to the right or the left. That's generally why one party dominance usually doesn't last more than one election cycle. Most of America still lives in the middle.

No, you're the one who's moronic. Someone can have a core value that abortion is wrong, but also that the war was monumentally stupid. Someone can have the core value that men being allowed in women's spaces is wrong, but that also that the grifter in the White House and his family are guilty also. On the other side, someone can have a core value that a woman should be able to choose to have an abortion, but also that the genital mutilation of children is evil. Someone can have a core value that centers on gay rights, but also that open borders are wrong.

If you can't grasp that, then you're the moron.

Emotional voters. Mad at Trump for gas prices.

Doesn’t matter that the Dems are all about “green energy” and won’t do jack with being able to lower gas prices themselves (as if they’d really want to anyway).

American voters (collectively) have short memories and don’t think in the long-term. They live in the “now” and will vote reactively.

And that’s the ones who chose to vote instead of sitting it out altogether as some kind of protest.

Its why independents and swing voters have all the power. Voting over culture war bs is for the morons that pledge allegience to Democrats or Republicans. I can disagree with anyones personal choices and thats good enough for me. I dont need them legislated.

Gridlock is the best government most of the time anyway until the president just starts a war without congressional approval or institutes tariffs through an executive order despite the ability to levy taxes being reserved for congress

So you think the Civil Rights Act should be largely repealed so that we have freedom of association again?

Cool. There aren't many of us.
