I'm discussing spending and DOGE's impotence in impacting spending

How is that not on subject?

Clearly, a large contingent of politicians do not care about the deficit.

Dems suddenly want to be fiscally conservative

Even more so now because midterms

DOGE never had a chance to make any meaningful impact

It's one of those ideas that we'll look back on and say "seemed like a good idea at the time"

Democrats openly opposed DOGE and its efforts. Another pivot.

They also opposed the massive tax cuts

There were no tax cuts, there was a shift in how taxes are collected - to the worst kind, inflation.

There is no such thing as an unbalanced budget. It either gets paid for in direct taxes or inflation/debt. Government spending is what actually matters, and unless it goes down - you got a tax increase.

More tax cuts for the rich will surely help.

After the Dems take over the House, they’ll be busy impeaching Trump.

Aside from military expense, the near singular difference Y2Y? ... increased interest on the debt. Interest on the debt accounts for $144B of the ~$210B

DOGE was/is great and needs to be emphasized. But our deficit problem will not be solved by DOGE. Got to reform social security and medicare and/or slash military.
That is the only way at thia point.

It didn't address my post which you not only replied to but quoted.

A general comment about DOGE's effectiveness has nothing to do with the statement or point I made.

It's a deflection.

DOGE failed spectacularly because:

1) A total misunderstanding of the big deficit drivers (waste is a minor contributor).
2) Staffing with arrogant, unqualified hacks.
3) Illegally trying to circumvent Congress.

But sure it’s Dems fault

Republicans have complete control of every branch of government.

In the House, barely. There are 218 Republicans in the House, it takes 218 to pass a spending bill, and Massie is an automatic No Vote.

In the Senate, Senators Susan Collins, Rand Paul, and Thom Tillis are automatic NO Votes, which means Vance has to break 50-50 ties.

Not what I'd consider complete control.

How much of this is outright fraud? At least a quarter I’ll bet.

I never made that point. I made the point that Dems opposed it and attempted to stop its efforts.

And that has nothing to do with the deficit, or a discussion of the deficit, speaking of being on topic.

Too bad leftist democrat judges filed lawsuits every time they turned around to stop DOGE.

Why would those activist judges be doing that I wonder...

After all the cuts to aid the less fortunate, Trump still increases the debt by 12 percent.
