“Trump won Iowa but only got 51% of the vote while 49% voted against him”

What’s with this narrative? I get turnout was low, but Trump also broke a record for the most votes in the Iowa Caucus by a Republican as well as the largest margin of victory.
Please educate me here. What am I missing?

The people who say that really believe they can fool people enough to make them believe the race is still competitive.
Obviously, it's an absurd point.

Doesn’t matter, Trump is the Republican nominee.

Democrats changed their registration to Republican so they could vote for Hailey. Then they changed registration back to Democrat. That’s how sleezy Democrats are.

It's like fans of the superbowl losing team mocking the winning team for not kicking their team's arse by a greater margin.

If you look at it from the point of view that Trump is the de facto incumbent than he did under-perform. If you consider this as just a normal voting cycle than he did great.

The argument has been that he's a quasi-incumbent. That, and he has 100% name recognition. It is weird his number isn't higher and turnout wasn't very good, even with the weather. However most DeSantis voters will coalesce behind Trump. Would think at least half of Haley's would too.
That said, it is worrisome a sizeable portion (30%+) of caucusgoers said in an entrance poll that a felony conviction would dissuade them from voting for Trump. Guess we will see.

You can safely bet 10-15% of "anti-Trump" vote were pussyhat wearing leftist vags.
Haley didn't win college area votes for no reason.

Trump skull fricked the entire field. There is some crazy coping going on right now.

Iowa was rigged.
This. It’s so obvious with the way Fox News called it so early.

They went from 186,874 the 2016 Iowa caucus to 110,298.
10-15% of those would be 11-16K off the total.
I guess that means that only 50% of the Republicans that showed for the 2016 caucus felt compelled to vote in this one.
That would mean that only 13% of Registered Republicans in Iowa voted.

The Sadvocate ran with that narrative after Jeff Landry won the Governor’s race in the primary.
“But 48 percent of voters chose someone else, plus only 30 percent of Louisiana voted!”
