I think the difficulty of confirming a sane justice to replace that raving lunatic Ginsburg is real, and the nominee has to have some characteristics that can protect them from the media/dnc slander fabrication machine.

To some degree nominating a woman does that

No it doesn't.

It's worse. They see you as a total traitor if you're a Conservative woman...just like a Conservative black man.

They go after them worse then if you were just some plain white Conservative male.

They see it as a betrayal and have to make an example out of you so the public can see that you are a pariah in society and this is not how women or black people should think and behave.

In his example, the three groups you feel are "overrepresented", would be outvoted by the other 6.

Also, it bears noting that faith association does not always equal being on your side (dem or gop).

Certain issues will always hit a gray area will faith based allegiance may lose out to other interests. This is why I agree with the Originalism school of thought.

These two things seem to be mutually exclusive. How does the population of gays increase naturally?

At great risk of getting flamed, while I think ACB would be a fantastic pick (bc I'm an originalist), outside the box, I would love a look at Condoleza Rice. She checks a multitude of boxes. Being brilliant is one of them.

I do think a qualified female candidate would be advantageous on multiple fronts

Sure thing, anyone could agree with that point.

BUT, if the No. 3 or 4 choice was a young, white dude who liked to party in college and was popular with the ladies, it would be hard to pass on the obvious shitstorm guaranteed to follow such a nominee.

How can it be misleading, when I put it in quotes and specifically stated that it was language I pulled from another thread?

To be very honest, you were one of the posters that I see is constantly looking for something to be upset about.

More people, also more people not feeling like they have to live by an orientation that is not naturally them.

Humans are best when they are their freest -- isn't that a form our republicanism -- roll back regulations and laws

didnt our founders move here to be able to be their truest, freest selves?

If you listened to the news dumbass you would know that Trump said he would replace Ginsburg withg Amy Coney Barrett, who happens to be a female, but is pro life and one the most conservative candidates out there.

No worries, Proggy Hank.

I have no doubt the pro-woman Proggies are going to be supportive of her, since she is a female.

No doubt there will be no calls for violence against her and her family.

I also doubt the left won't make up some fantasy about her being some sort of terrorist felon in 30 years ago with an incident that didn't happen.

You are a complete idiot. A supreme court quota system that will make everyone mad. Appoint the most qualified man or woman that agrees with the president's philosophy.

Okay, but I fully support the appointment of the female I think he's going to appoint, so I'm good with it.

If Trump plans to nominate another Supreme Court justice, he’d better hope one comes open in the next 6 months.. i mean, since McConnell laid down the law at the end of Barry’s last term that a new justice cant be confirmed in the last year of a President’s term (and we dont know if Trump will win another), then we cant in good conscience change the rules arbitrarily , can we?
