The founders of America were British citizens at the time of the Revolutionary War and all of the big names were born right here in America. In fact, 48 of the 56 signers were born in America. The 8 who weren't were George Taylor, Matthew Thornton, James Wilson, John Witherspoon, James Smith, and Francis Lewis. Those 8 were born in Ireland, Scotland and Wales and none of them would have been considered "undocumented migrants."
But why would they not be considered undocumented migrants? They were not members of any native tribes or citizens of any native nations. I know I’m asking you to do a thought exercise but I’m truly baffled at the mental gymnastics here. What did they do to not earn that label?

Are you seriously comparing the deaths of innocent children to the LEGAL deportation of people who came into this country ILLEGALLY with the full intention of doing so?
No? And even if I did, legality is no way to measure MORALITY. Slavery, 3/5ths act, women and gays not having rights, internment camps, etc were all LEGAL once in this country, even with people at the CURRENT TIME objecting to its abhorrent nature. It tells me alot about someone if they’re that shallow to base their morality off laws.
quote:
You really are a special kind of stupid. Those kids were sleeping in their cabins when the floodwaters swept them away. It is a tragedy of immense proportions, and it was no one's fault.
It’s a horrible tragedy. Maybe not preventable. Nature is cruel. But we can do things to ensure these events are less frequent. The current admin and party in power in Texas has no interest in that. Conservatism is funny because whenever it can be their fault, it never is. But if it’s a democrat, they’ll incessantly blame them.
quote:
The people who get deported have themselves to blame.
Surely kids getting deported have only themselves or their parents to blame. They put them in a climate and condition that allowed this to happened.
Oh wait! That sounds familiar. Or is it that we should only have sympathy for some people and not others? You think people, especially those subjected to your unequal treatment, will gladly oblige to that? nope. We won’t, I won’t either

So what will the reversal of these suppressed wages have on prices?
Absolutely nothing because conservatives by nature will conveniently find a way to say they don’t have the money or you can’t throw money at every problem or that it’s a waste.
Then they’ll bitch and complain with wages stay down and prices go up even harder and they’ll blame minorities and democrats.

In so many ways you described the average center right Republican man as a bigot. You’re free to clarify your post. I hope you would because that what I would never want to believe. If I were an average Republican man described here I’d be insanely insulted.

No I won’t, because this isn’t want I voted for. I wouldn’t never want neither. Not for Texans, white people, kids, undocumented people, anyone, etc. So I wouldn’t vote for candidates that would increase the likelihood of its.
It’s exactly what YOU VOTED for. Candidates and platforms that increase the likelihood of it.
I imagine that’s a tough pill to shallow if you’re being honest with yourself
Reaped what you sowed.

There's a HUGE difference between cheering deportations
Nice way of saying some people deserve humanity others don’t. Conditional morality. You’re acting like crossing an imaginary line is a cardinal offense. When it is typically done, when heavily weighed, to escape a worse situation. Legality or not, is it ethically or morally wrong to seek refuge? Everyone wants more “secure” borders but yeah I have a heart and a brain and not trashing rational caring parents making huge calculated risks to seek a better life.
The founders of America were undocumented migrants as well. Why is their situation any different ?
quote:
People who enter the country illegally typically end up being a financial drain on taxpayers.
Slave to money. Money is your God. Typical. We’re a rich prosperous nation. With better governance and financing we can afford it. Also, I rather go broke than leave someone untreated.
quote:
A man I knew waited in an emergency room for 8 1/2 hours while bleeding rectally because there were so many patients there.
Our citizen is great, and the greatest in the world but a piece of paper shouldn’t mean I get treated better medically. I’m sorry for your friend though.
quote:
And most of the money earned by illegals ends up getting wired back home while the illegal stays in the country and drains taxpayer funded services
So they don’t have the freedom of speech with their dollar? If illegals are getting kicked out, why are they cutting taypayer funded services. You do realize, that the core ethos of Republican idealogy is conservation and self. If they’re not going to give it to the illegals, theyre not going to give it to us legal citizens. They’ll find a way to save it or say it’s wasteful spending or how it’s not needed or how money doesn’t solve problems.
You’re right leaning, you should know all their dumb, manipulative, lying, greedy ways. You know those funds will never touch the US citizens. That’s not how trickle down economies or any conservative economic platform has ever worked in reality.
quote:
So yes, people cheer when they are deported.
Hilary was right. Most Americans INITIALLY didn’t care about the holocaust, were anti civil rights, anti gay right, pro Japanese internment camps. Why would I ever follow Americans when it came to human rights, initially? We typically get it right, but only after a period of being dead wrong. Here’s another case. I will be staying clear of any support of such inhumane treatment of humans.
quote:
What is the context that makes her comments no different from people cheering deportations?
People want sympathy but won’t extent it. And then call other people crazy for pointing it out. It’s almost as if the underlining sentiment is “some people deserve sympathy and others don’t”

AND THERE’S NOTHING frickING WRONG WITH THAT.
Yes there is, hate and prejudice when your religion is explicitly against is crazy. Who do you follow, the law of man or law of God? You expect people to respect your religion if it’s based on hate? Nah man I respect you but I’ll never respect that. The majority of good intention people will not either
quote:
Whether intentional or not, if that PRIVATE entity wants to segregate, then that is their own prerogative.
Just because you have the right to doesn’t absolve you from consequences. You reap what you sow. If people choose to look down on it, you only have yourself to blame. But please, segregate as you please.
quote:
Is that what you’re saying? This is justifiable because “well, she does have a point, that camp may have been segregated.”
If it’s true, even shitty people don’t deserve to have their govt fail them. They don’t deserve to die that way. I’ll always stand on that. I’m excluding kids from the “shitty people” comment because they’re kids. I’m referencing the adults. Kids get all the grace in the world from me.
But you can’t be surprised if people have less sympathy and grace for shitty people.

God awful thing to saw about children who are lost. They have no part in this.
But she didn’t say anything typically not found on this board. Every other thread has 100s of upvotes cheering on deportation and concentration camps. Other comments are non thinly veiled prejudice comments.
I know nothing about the camp so I can’t comment on it being a purposefully segregated camp. But considering how the fundamentalist alt right Christian evangelical church is, it wouldn’t be that surprising if it was purposeful. I’ll hold my judgement there though because I have no facts to support that.
What she said was really in poor taste but she didn’t say anything the posters hear don’t say on a daily basis. Maybe yall just don’t like to hear how the world perceives you.

You can’t vote for someone that promises to destroy everything, and support the it. Obviously I burn inside for the lives lost. Especially the children. They deserved better. But for the systematic infrastructure and system failures? That’s on the adults that invited this type of leadership. You reap what you sow.
This is the leadership you wanted so deal with it and fix it if you must. Or enjoy it like you said you do.
